New Year's Eve

Posted in Home Life

Happy 2007!   What a wonderful weekend we have had.  On Friday night we had dinner with part of the Olson clan who we have worked for, and now are becoming fast friends with.   It was a wonderful time together.  On Saturday we joined them to view 2 beautiful pieces of property here in Gills Rock.  It was fun to walk the bluffs and see the properties.  Later in the afternoon we had friends from Chicago here to see our home and have hot chocolate together.  Patty and John are the folks who helped us get our bedroom set and they finally got to see the finished room.  It was a blessed day.
Yesterday we had church in the morning with sweet worship to our heavenly Father.  I spent the afternoon checking food and making sure things were set for our annual New Year's Eve party.  It started at 6:00 with dinner and then the watching the Packer/Bears game.  Who needs Lambeau when you have a living room full of maniac Packer fands.  It was great!  Those not to interested in football played games and then at half-time we did the annual Yankee swap. Fastest one we ever did thanks to the football fans! After the games folks played games in the dining area at two different tables and others talked in the living room.  It rained which was a bummer, but we did get a few off before midnight when we had a break in the weather.  At midnight we celebrated with all my antique mini goblets filled with sparkling juice.  It was after 2 when the last youth left and I went to bed.
Today was relaxing and cleaning up and having friends stop over for coffee and snacks.  I always love cleaning up the next morning and remembering all the fun of the night before.  These are precious memories.
Another celebration after a year with difficult sadnesses, blessed times, new friends, victories won, and life appreciated.  God is so good.
