Staying in the school room

Posted in Learning Life

We have had this problem since our Christmas break, no one can stay focused on school!   Yikes, and this included the teacher.      Yes, we are accomplishing much, but this is the first week that we are getting it all done, and that is because I am staying in the school room.  Usually I sit for a couple hours, especially to help our youngest, and then bop in and out doing laundry, bookwork etc.. inbetween being needed.  We have made great strides in our schoolwork by my  constant appearance, but the other areas of the house are now looking neglected.  We still have our Christmas tree up for crying out loud!
This has always been the thorn in my side with homeschooling, how to get it all done, and my "all" is being used in a very loose way!  Oh to find the perfect balance of the well done education, and the clean house.   The bottome line is this; God has called our family to this lifestyle and so today, and tomorrow, I will trust Him to give me the balance.  He will help me stay put with the children, and enable me to rally the troops to do the chores and the "other" side of our life.  It's like riding a horse, sometimes you fall off (especially after holidays) and then you get back on and ride away.
On the upside, we have now memorized Phil. 4:4-9, Psalm 27, and Psalm 23, which makes that pile of laundry seem very un-important in comparison.  What joy to know these verses going into our children's hearts will guard them for today and into the future.

I have a hard time finding balance, too. It's so hard to do everything, isn't it? I write about that a lot myself on my blog.
I'm sorry about your horse visit from a sheriff! I'm sure that was disturbing to think someone is watching your family.
