We woke this morning to a bare yard, much to our surprise as we heard so much about this big storm that we are supposed to be getting all day yesterday. Rick and I had coffee and talked for awhile when all of a sudden the weather changed and it started to snow. We watched and discussed whether church should be cancelled as we heard numerous churches cancelling on the local news. Much to our surprise, we got the call saying they were indeed cancelling church because it was terrible driving conditions and we have so many elderly that will still attempt to come out, and our teens as well. Yippeee, I was so excited as we have not had a snowstorm in a long time. The children all slept in and we had breakfast late. We called some neighbors and had them over for lunch as I had a huge pot of ham and potato soup, fresh bread, applesauce, and salads. The one stipulation was that they had to be able to get home by themselves and NOT spend the night, we love them all but.......... :) So, we played games, read, napped, watched NASCAR, talked, relaxed. it has been wonderful. I went out and fed Liily with Annie. She needed some medicine in her foot but refused to cooperate with us. We will deal with that in the morning first thing. It has been wonderful. Rick is going to go and plow a friend's driveway so his wife can get back home safely after her shift at SCAND is over. He will pick up our daughter Kristi on his way home and then we will have popcorn and rootbeer floats. What a relaxing way to end the day. We are invited to another neighbor's place to do music but they have a notorious driveway for stopping even 4-wheel drive vehicles, so I will probably stay home and cuddle with my girls and Matthew. I was most pleased that Matthew got out snowmobiling this afternoon so he did get one good ride in this winter. He is such a good man and loves to snowmobile so this was a great day for him as well. His sisters and I all agree that he is most handsome in his fancy Arctic Cat snowmobile suit! These are precious days, too few happen like this. I long for more peace and quiet, less hustle and bustle. Why does it take a snowstorm to bring it to our home? I am going to spend time pondering this with God later this evening when my Mommy time is over for the day! |
