Last week or so!

Posted in Home Life

I want to get a few pictures up of our time in Tenn., but I am having trouble finding the time to do it and with dial-up you really need TIME!
Our weeks have been busy but very productive.  Last week we really concentrated on getting into a  good schedule with school and I set the hours aside to be THERE with the girls and what a difference that made. I now have two of the girls at my school desk, actually an antique table.  It has been wonderful to have them close.  Kristi sits at her own spot as she is very independent in her studies.  We gather for history, reading, and geography, although Kristi has her own history reading that she does as well.  They often knit or paint and draw while we all take turn reading aloud our history readers.   We had a great week and the changes proved very valuable to our schooling time.
My husband came home of Friday with beautiful bathroom cabinet made of oak that was going to be tossed from a job site he is working on.  We had an hour to clear out the utility room, often called the "abyss", in just one hour!  Yikes, everything went all over our great room area.  Then the cabinet would not go in as it is very tall.  We had a dear friend over and she sat talking with the girls by our woodstove amidst a huge mess.
On Saturday Rick took the cabinet to his dad who is a carpenter and had him look at it.  We were leaving for Green Bay to celebrate Matthew, our oldest child's birthday and attend a concert.  We got a little shopping done that we needed to do, one must never waste a trip to the "big city"!  HA HA.  Kristi needed a new bathing suit and that was the hardest thing to find.  Modesty is not an issue to the world and we had to look and look from store to store.  We finally found something that she can wear a tank under and it will cover her well.  I could not believe the cost but we just felt it would be worth it  to get her covered.  We took Matthew out for supper with his uncle ( Rick's brother) who is also his boss!  We had so much fun and Matthew looked so happy.
We were going to see the Newsboys in concert at a VERY fancy performing arts center in the valley.  We had heard it was just the Newsboys as it was a fundraiser.  I had called for tickets on Monday and there were only 20 tickets left.  I am one who does not like to be more than 5 rows back and so I was a little concerned about where we would be sitting.  We got to the concert and the usher showed us our seats, 4th balcony, dead center but not on the first row which would be bad with my vertigo issue!  The girls were absolutely thrilled as they were the best seats in the house  :)  God is such a detail God and cares about everything that concerns us, including concert seats.  It was a wonderful night of fun praise, awsome worship, preaching and hearing the scriptures spoken out.  I just love seeing a multi-generational  crowd all llifting up the name of the Lord whether it was singing Blessed Be Your Name or Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, it was just a sweet taste of what I believe heaven will be like someday.  It was a late night and we finally got in bed at 1:00.
Rick did get the cabinet into the utility room with some manuvering and now I am sorting and getting rid of anything that I do not need, bagging things for Goodwill etc..  Decluttering is so good.
God was faithful to me on Sunday morning and I was still so full of the joy from the concert the night before and our worship was full up with joy and praise and even though I was a little tired I only goofed once, during the prelude, I kept adding an A flat to the song and our poor organist just gave me quite the look from across the sanctuary.  She, Joan is the most patient of ladies! :)
This week we have Sam back from vacation, and we are taking care of a one yr. old named Mason so his mom who is a single mom can continue working while the normal sitter has surgery.  He is quite a handful, but Casey knows I will treat him like my own and so he learned quickly that a firm no means no.  He was starting to get it by mid afternoon as he would stop and think vs. laughing or smiling and then doing exactly what he was just told no about.  He loves electrical wire and plugs, so his responding is very important.  We did not finish school until after five due to these two boys keeping us very busy, but it was a good day all in all.
The girls are playing my favorite song - for this week at least-  I am going to go and sing as we get breakfast finished,  I don't want to gain the whole world and lose my soul,  that is the cry of my heart, to lose my life in Christ, not in the things of this world.  Christ is the only one that will bring me complete joy and satisfaction.  I want today to count for eternity!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I needed to hear that! Again and Again! Did you ever wish there was something about yourself you could change? Well, for me, that's what I wish. I always worry about that kind of stuff and it's really not a good thing. It's all about "me". It's self/self/self/self. Although I don't think she had a clue that I was so worried about it, the fact that it was in my head and I was thinking about it bugged me.
You sound like you had a very busy week...I can't tell you how many times around here I've had to do just what you did - in an moments notice, throw everything out of the room in order to accomplish a project. My dh has a construction/development business, and when the construction guys time is freed up, it's all of the sudden, at this very instant, their at my house working on an overhaul project that I've wanted for a very long time, but without a previous moments notice.
What ages are your children that are still at home?
Do you have any married yet?

I just love going to Christian concerts. The Newsboys have some great stuff and I too enjoy just looking around the room and praising God of the multigenerational crowd praising God. I don't go to concerts as much as I did in my single days - the cost of tickets for a family of 4 can really run up, but we really enjoy ourselves when we do go and I too remain on a high for a day or two or so afterwards. Just imagine what Heaven will be like?

Blessings, Jane
