We have made it to Wed. without Kristi, we may survive! It is much quieter as she is the girl who cannot go past our piano without stopping to play. She has been learning the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice which is simply beautiful, and we miss hearing it played. I had these grandeous plans for extra fun projects while I had the two younger ones alone, but life has continued to be a little crazy with other projects that need attention. Last Friday morning we got out our left over seeds for the garden and sorted them to see what we will need for this year. I ended up calling our neighbor and she came over to get some of our extras and stayed and visited for awhile. Sherry got me a book by John Piper on the roles of men and women according to scripture. It is good so far, and I really appreciate Pastor Piper's deep thinking. Back to the seeds, we will only need to order a few so we are doing it online and Annie will be in charge of it. We checked out our garlic bed that Sherry helped us start last fall but it appears that some of them did not take as we had a warm spell last Nov. that sprouted a few. We will see. Saturday I cleaned, ALL day. Rick commented that he appreciated the organizing that I am trying to do :), he then pointed out the next area of need :). Oh well, he is a command man and I love that about him, (most of the time). Sunday we had Lyle and Sammy, Annie (Lyle's daughter), a friend James, and our son Matthew for a corn beef dinner after church. It was so much fun to laugh together and visit. I did not get my quick Sunday nap and when I disobey that I feel it for days. We have raked out our flower beds and Melly-8 has enjoyed telling me of every new shoot that has appeared in the last 3 days. She is anxious to get in there and stir the dirt up, but I told her that Grandma Clark said not to do that because it is easy to pull perennials that we do not recognize. Melody saw the wisdom in that and said she could wait for a week or so! I cannot wait myself to see how the beds looked as last year we gathered plants from my sweet friend Kari to expand our beds and the second year always shows the fruit of one's labor. I have a huge music project for church that I need to finish today. I am updating, again, the 10 notebooks for myself, singers, guitarists and drummer. I hope I can get it done as I am still evaluating a few new songs that we have tried and I am not completely satisfied on a couple of them. My BIL is a singer and he really challenged me about the content and music of contemporary music and it has me scrutinizing the songs more than ever. There is a place for depth, but I beleive there is also a place for very simple songs that keep you from struggling over many words and just freed to worship with a few lines of truth. It is a weighty matter to be in charge of bringing the music before the body here, and I do not take this task lightly. This morning I was in Luke reading about how we are not to cause a "little one" to stumble. The "little one" means anyone who is weaker in their knowledge, conviction, thoughts because of age, maturity or skill level. I am pondering this scripture today and how it applies to me and to our children. Good stuff from the Word! |
