Our weekend, Friday was the birthday party with Rick's folks for Annie and Melody. We also had a dear family, the Orricks over. Melody planned the menu and it was all good food, perfect match for the wonderful fellowship. Saturday morning we got up and packed for an overnight in Green Bay. We went first to a Karate exhibition where a young man we know was going for his black belt. I enjoy these testings as they really show the skill of self-control and focus that is mastered for this sport. Dan, the young man who was testing is a sweet gentle young man, but boy did he come out aggressive in the testing. He was amazing to watch. How good to have the self-control and ability to be forceful and strong when the need arises. We then headed up to northern Wisconsin which means we had to head south to Green Bay and then north, living on a peninsula means we always head south first no matter what direction we are heading! We went to see our farrier named Dee. She has a horse for sale and she wanted us to come and see her. She is a red paint, 15. hands and in foal to a black paint who has homogeneous foals, meaning they will always be black and white. It was fun to see her horses, they are all beautiful. She also had a barrel racing clinic going on which was fun to watch. The horse we are looking at, named Peaches, was racing and did well. Dee's farm is up on a hill and the view was much like a Tenn. countryside. I was amazed at the beauty. We enjoyed out time there and then headed back toward G.B.. We stopped at a park we have been to before and hiked and then had our picnic supper we had brought with us. The sun was warm and we enjoyed talking and playing in the sunshine. We did do a quick trip to the mall. We found a modest swimsuit for Melody 50% off, yippee! A couple decent shirts and a dress for Annie. Everything was on sale and I also found two nice dress shirts for Rick at 80% off. Lots of his shirts are getting worn out so this find was a real blessing. We spent the night at Matthew's apartment, burned a bag of popcorn so he won't forget we were there for a couple of days! Yikes! what a smell. Sunday morning we met Rick, Mandy and Ben at Bayside, one of our favorite churches. They have grown so much that it was packed plus they have a camera feed to another area in the church where a couple hundred folks worshipped separately. The sermon was so good, about respecting husbands and spiritual authority. He did not mince words on the need for men to rise up, and for church to respect men. I do wish he would have spoken to the "how-to" of respecting men when the husbands are alcoholics, with other addictions or negligent and or abusive. The worship was sweet and my make-up was completely gone from the precious time of blessing God with my praises and enjoying His presence. We all enjoyed church very much. We then went and did a quick tux-fitting for Rick and Matthew, oh how the money flows when wedding plans are being decided! All I can say is that it is a shame my husband is so handsome, it's not fair to look better than the groom! Just kidding, Ben is a very fine looking young man. :) Rick's brother Randy had a birthday last week and so we all took him out to dinner to celebrate. It was fun to visit together and to be with him. We took a picture out by his new truck afterwards. When we left G.B. it was 84 degrees outside, just beautiful. As we drove up the peninsula is cooled by 25 degrees within 20 miles! That is life when you live on the Great Lakes. We had renters leave our rental on the back property so we went and did a check on that house. It will need some work which is also causing us to evaluate what we should be doing with this home. We discussed things last night but without any answers due to Rick being tired and my PMSing! Sometimes it is better to wait a few days and think through things before rushing to a decision. Great weekend, now I will return to my previously scheduled life! |
