Our week

Posted in Home Life

What a week!
This is week two of the May cleaning blizzard that we do every year.  We clean many homes in preparation for the coming season.  I enjoy it so much but this week was harder than past cleaning marathons that I have done.  I did have Jeni to help, and she needed the money for her mission trip.  It was fun to work with her and visit, but it also compounded the growing lump in my heart of pre-meditated loneliness that I am succumbing to when I think of her leaving.  Six weeks is a long time to not hear my child's voice, especially when hardly a day goes by when we do not connect by phone.  At least we got to work side by side during this week.

M9 decided yesterday that she needed to contribute more to Jeni's financial needs.  She thought and pondered and finally came up with a plan to do a bake sale on Saturday.  There is a lighthouse tour going on all day and she hopes to catch those tourists with her homemade treats.  She also had plans to charge the folks $5.00 to hear Jeni speak about Africa and the many needs there, rotating the "crowd" every 15 minutes!  Wow. we have a potential entrepreneur here.  I need to pray that her future husband is self-employed so she can bless him with all her organization skills in business!  We talked with M9 and she has decided to just sell some homemade treats and have a tag-board of facts to share with people, and then a donation box with Jeni's picture on it.  What a beautiful heart this little girl has.  She made her cookies this afternoon and they turned out beautifully.

While I cleaned this week, the children did lots of keeping of the home.  They were such a blessing.  The house looks decent, meals were acceptable and the laundry pile is not totally blocking one from getting to the furnace room.  :)  Next week they will join me each day to make some fun money on their own.

Tuesday was Mandy's graduation from Tech College.  She made the honors list and we are so proud of her in this accomplishment. She starts full time in her job at a local establishment in the next town.  She was a bright star on the campus, and was one of 13 out of over 1,000 students to be nominated for ambassador of the school because of her leadership skills.  She held up God's standard before her teachers and was a witness to the teachers and peers there.

The Lord answered some big prayers this week as far as the youth group.  God moved in a big way on Wed. night.  Thank you Lord.  When teens are moved to confess sin you can know without a doubt that God is at work.

Tonight we had a treat and went for pizza at a local pizza parlor.  Mandy and Ben joined us before the left for their marriage counseling class.  We laughed together and had a wonderful time.  It was nice to breath easy and relax after a day of cleaning.

We are going to watch a movie and I will help Jeni with her thank you letters from the support that she has received.

Status:  bone-tired, even a little sore, but loving life

You live so close to the lighthouse tours that your little one could set up a bake sale for the tourists? Wow! It must be so beautiful where you live! What do I need to do to nudge you into taking pictures and posting them for us?
