What today means to me!

Posted in Home Life

Today is a very important day for my husband and me.  It is our 26th wedding anniversary!  I just love celebrating our love because it really is a celebration of God's glorious ability to teach we humans to love like He does, at least to a small degree.  I dare not say that I love as well as my God does,  but through Him I have learned to lay down myself for my sweet husband.  God has brought us through some storms, so we do not worry about the future He will get us through.  God has given us 6 children when I was told I might not be able to ever have any children.  He has given us joy and knit our hearts together making a stronger  bond with every year.  Oh how I praise Him, He is so worthy.  I am delighted to tell people we have been married this long, I am thrilled to be building a testimony for our children of a lifetime love relationship with their Dad.  Love is a beautiful thing.
We will have steak tonight for supper to celebrate with our children.  We have always made a separate celebration with the family, steak, cherry pie, sparkling juice.....  to help them understand that this is a FAMILY celebration of love and faithfulness to each other AND to them as well.  Rick and I will go out for dinner this weekend, actually, whenever we can fit it in in the next week.  This is a busy time of year for us.  Can't wait to be alone with my man  :)
Rick bought me a beautiful card which I read aloud to the girls.  At first they were all screaming with their fingers in their ears afraid that their Dad had got me a card which might have been been really romantic, in other words, alluding to the "s" word.  They are SO funny.  They listened to the card and then they all "awed" together at how beautiful it was.  What a guy.   He will get my card at supper.
I have an old favorite Judds song and the chorus sums up how I feel today:

Love is alive and at our breakfast table every day of the week
Love is alive and it grows every day and night, even in our sleep
Love is alive and it's made a happy woman out of me
Love is alive, and here by me.

This is the verse that was on our wedding invitation,
Psalm 18:23
God has done this, it is wonderful in our eyes.

I add, God continues to do this, and it continues to be wonderful in our eyes.
To God be the glory.

I always admired my mom, too, growing up as a p.k. My dad served as pastor at the same church his entire life, and although never going through MS as your father, he certainly had his hardships he endured, including a church split that many of my parent's friends even eventually left. It was a very discouraging time in his life and I'll never forget that.
Glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Joyce -

What a beautiful testimony of your marriage. I love how you include your children in part of the celebration - because you are right!!! It is about them, too! They are BLESSED to have faithful, loving parents to live with and learn from.

Love, Holly
