Here are some pictures of our cottage kitchen that we redid. I will have more pictures in the future when I am able to go in and take more. This cottage was the in-law home for the original owners and builders of our home. They had a total of 10 acres and the in-law cottage was in the back. The in-laws died and the cottage and 8 acres of land were put up for sale and bought by another elderly couple. We bought the front home on the highway 21 years ago. The Anderson's who lived in the back cottage were getting older and decided to move to Arizona. At the time we knew some people who were interested in buying the cottage and land and also to put up condos. Yikes, we were appauled at the thought as with five daughters our privacy and safety were foremost in our minds. We prayed and decided to make an offer on the place in partnership with our BIL, Randy. They accepted and we became owners of this beautiful piece of property. We have done vacation rentals in the cottage and also year around rentals. God has used this place to connect us to many different people, blessed so many families and has been a refuge place for those needing time with the Lord. We know that we have used this extravagance for His glory. I believe that having a second home, be it a 900 Sq. ft. cottage is above and beyond when much of the world has not a home. We are now seeking God's will for it's purpose in our lives and how best to use it. I would like to go back to weekly rentals so that we have freedom to use it to bless people like missionaries and fellow brothers and sisters who need a break. Rick and I will have the meeting about this in the next few days. We do these "meetings" almost weekly in the summer as there are so many decisions and schedules to line-up with all of our businesses going at full speed this time of the year. Rick and I discuss each of our ideas and I sit with a calendar taking notes and scheduling things. Sometimes Rick or I are just catching up the other on what is going on with each business. I am married to a command man and he will give me my orders, but he is also wonderful about wanting my input and also ( this is new in the last few years) working around my commitments and helping me. Rick is very pleased with our ability to work well as a team and this has blessed our marriage so much. |
