Door County Fair
Yesterday was fair day!   Every year we enjoy a day at our local county fair.  We headed out in two cars around 2:30 with Rick leaving later with the race car because last night was also race night.  We got there early and walked over to see the animals of which there were not many.  We usually do not come for race night but this year it was what worked best for us.  I realized that many animals were not there because they are brought in on Thursday to avoid the noise from the race cars which could unsettle the gentlest of God's creatures!  But, we had a tradition that we had to fulfill; a group picture of us by a cow.  So  we  found a group of bulls  that were being brought in and the farmer said we could take our photo with one.  Of course the group acted embarrassed (the teens, not the cows), and the older ones all tried to hide behind each other, but I accomplished the most important '07 Fair picture that we needed!  Then it was off to the rides.  It was $1 per ride for the night and I was thankful for the cheaper price.  We hit the tilt-o-whirl many times as it is our favorite!  Melly and I spun 33 times in a row and felt we "owned" that ride, although there were outlandish claims to spinning 87 times, 100 times, by some others who started to look pretty shady as they told of their experience!  We also enjoyed the scrambler, typhoon, ferris wheel, and 0 gravity.  Our youngest is hard core on the rides (I am so proud of her!) but I did not let her go on the high ones or things that went upside down, there has to be limit for a 9 year old!  Others went on some of the wilder rides and it was fun to watch them.  We went to watch the races and did our annual quarter - pool.  Everyone picks a car as they come onto the track and then throws a quarter in a french-fry container.  It makes the races so much more fun as everyone shouts for their car.  I lost $1.50, but had such a good time.  I wish Rick would have had as much fun, enough said!
After getting our annual funnel cake and root beer the teens did one more Tilt-o-whirl and then we tried to head to the car, only to have to stop at a dog-show going on at 10:15 at night!  I wondered why there were so many dogs on the midway.  What a wonderful time we had.  We rode home talking and listening to Casting Crowns.  Tradition is so fun.

loved the pics, and looked like a beautiful day!

my fav ride is the tilt o whirl, the hard spins where you can't lift your head and neck forward! that is one we hit every year, except hubby, he can do the round and round rides.

would love to see the cow picture!

I love going to our fair, too. However, we missed it this year and I've been feeling bad about that. Your blog intensified my regretfulness!
