Homeschooling in the Fall in Door County

One of the blessings of homeschooling is the freedom to educate your children according to your families lifestyle. Since we live in a summer tourist area and two of our businesses are very summer related, it makes the start of every school year interesting. Until the end of October I am still booking rentals and cleaning them. Our daughters who work in the neighborhood shops are still working a few afternoons each week so........ we squeeze in school between the jobs. This means that we really just hit the basics, math, science, grammar, history each day and in a few weeks we will round out the curriculum with Spanish and Latin, more literature, art and music lessons. For now it is just enough to make it through the day. The other night we did an hour of history/geography after supper which worked really well actually! I know that our schooling will change with my closing down the rental business and I that it will be for better. This is schooling for now, can't wait till November! |
