Feels like Fall

Posted in Home Life

As I sit here this evening I am listening to a mighty roaring wind.  I do believe the Wind of Acts 2 might have been louder, but maybe not!  It is the change of the seasons and it happens every 1st of Oct..  With the absolute stunning beauty of the Maple leaves turning, comes the days and nights of roaring winds.  I do love to go and stand at the waters edge with the cold, sometimes freezing wind blowing right through me and feel the power of God's nature in full force.  But, those very same winds can put me to my knees in prayer, begging God to calm the seas as my husband goes out to ride the waves to get to his nets.  There are exactly 21 days left in the season and we really need a good lift every day as this is the prime time.    We need the winds to settle down for morning, but we will trust our God.
These fall days also bring the young adults home from college.  This morning we had a full band for the first time in weeks because our college kids came home and were willing to play.  It was a precious sight to my eyes this morning, when, I glanced up from playing the prelude to see the area between the front pews filled with high-schoolers and college  students talking and enjoying each others company.  The majority of our students and those students involved in leadership sit in the front two pews, pretty neat!   We had a great service of praising the Lord and our Pastor taught us from 1 Cor. 14, about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  It was excellent and balanced teaching.
I have always enjoyed football and especially the Packers, so this year I decided to make a commitment to my husband to watch every game with him.  He was not so thrilled about it at the beginning of the season and our older children have teased him about having to put up with me during the games.  Why?  because I like to ask questions; inquiring minds need to know if different players are married, do they have children, are they Christians????  Anyway.....  we completely enjoyed the Viking game this afternoon, which the Packers won.  At one point we were yelling so loud we woke up our teenager who was sleeping!   I even asked some "correct" questions which showed I was paying attention, and I remembered that it is Dan Marino that Favre beat out, not Don!
I have plans to get rid of Rick's leather recliner so that he will have to sit with me on the couch which will make the games even more romantic.
After evening service we had our Sunday night dinner, popcorn and ice cream.  With all the activity and friends over this weekend we all agreed to head to bed early.  Kristi is playing beautiful music on the piano from Pride and Prejudice which makes a soothing sound to go to sleep to.
I am thankful for life, for nature, even loud winds, for homes and families and all the good gifts God gives.

Just catching up on all your posts. It is a good thing to have a thankful spirit - which is portrayed throughout all your posts.

I really love the make-over of your blog. The yellow is so bright and sunny. I think it fits you so well!

"Premium Red" from Anabolic Laboratories. I got this from my holistic dr. which is also a chiropractor. He sells vitamins and homeopathic types of things. The label does say, "Available Only From Health care Professionals", which I'm not really sure what that means. I do hope you can find it. I said on my post that it has the equivilant of 5 servings of fruits and veggies, but I'm reading it better now and it says that it has the equivilant of 10.

Even if you can't find the Red, it is still a healthy drink - it's two most important components is the Flax Seed Oil and the Cottage Cheese. This was discovered by Dr. Budwig, who held a PH.D in natural science. Dr. Budwig made so many contributions to science and medicine she was nominated by her peers to receive a Nobel Prize seven different times!

As you know, our cells are all lined with fat, but when we eat all these trans-fats (partially hydrogenated oil) our cells then have this "imitation" or bad fat lining our cells. This causes all kinds of havoc. It inhibits the cell receptors to receive many nutrients that it needs. Dr. Budwig proved that this was a major cause of cancer.

She found that the cottage cheese was the most suitable protein to carry the flax seed oil into the cell walls. The goal is to re-line our cells with the good fat.

A good book to read is, "Outsmart Your Cancer", subtitled, Alternative Non-Toxic Treatments That Work, by Tanya Harter Pierce. When a good friend of ours was diagnosed with cancer this past year (Jeff/previous posts you might have read) I did a lot of research on this subject. I decided that this flaxseed oil/cottage cheese mixture was a good preventive to ward off this dreadful illness. I throw all the extra stuff in it just to get all our nutrients in - extra antioxidents by the apple/orange/berries; vitamin c powder - and for my mom I put in 2 oz. of Aloe Vera Juice, which is good for healthy bowel movements (the elderly often have trouble with this).

Come by and see my kitchen....
