Thanksgiving 2007

Posted in Home Life

Thanksgiving was just delightful this year.  Having older daughters that love to cook made it the easiest year ever.  We found new recipes and spent the morning cooking and getting everything ready to warm in the oven later.  Everything was set so that we could watch the Packer game on TV and then eat when it was over.  We always have Rick's folks and friends who are not blood family but what I think of as love-family.  We enjoyed the game with the typical heart-attack fourth quarter in which the Packers came out victorious!
We had dinner and then played games and visited having dessert later in the evening.  It was a calm day for the most part and sweet with the fellowship we shared together.
The hardest part of the day was knowing that Jeni would not be with us.  It was the first holiday without a child.  It was strange in an aching way.  The blessing was knowing that she was with my Aunt and Uncle and cousins out in Minn..  She actually had a great time thanks to my sweet family and especially one crazy Bears fan that kept her sparring with him all afternoon.  Jeni arrived in all her glory wearing her Brett Favre jersey over her dress clothes.  Sigh, she really makes her Daddy proud!
