By the lack of posting I have noticed in my friend's blogs, I know it is the Christmas season. There is a place for quietness as we mother's focus on making our homes a place for the celebration of the Christ's birth, a place for gatherings of our families and friends, a place of giving and giving gifts in thanks of what others mean to us. I do enjoy this season even tho it is busy. We have enjoyed making our annual gift bags to neighbors, friends and teachers at church. This year it was our Christmas cocoa in a unique canning jar, and fudge or brittle, a card with pictures. When you live in a small community that is as tight as our is, it means a LOT of gift bags. It is worth it, although we tell others we love them now and then, it is one more chance to say we care and that these folks are important to us. We have done a very light load of school the last week. Last week we had a death in our community, the suicide of a 23 year old man. He was the cousin of friends of our so we watched there two little guys as they spent the day over on the Island for the funeral. I also did a solo trip to Green Bay to get the Christmas shopping done for our children. I was so delighted with everything I bought and everything was marked way down with sales. I have a few things I will get on Thursday as we will be taking our neighbor down to meet her sister at an oncologist appointment. The girls have a few things they need to get and I am picking up Rick's gift that day. I am sure it will be fun. We have snow but not as much as I thought we would have by now. The snow keeps staying south of Green bay. The Lake is not frozen over yet so that may be a factor. We are supposed to get a huge storm this weekend but we hope not because Jeni is coming home from Minn. and we want her safe. I am almost done with Christmas cards, Yippee! I do enjoy writing them and taking time to put a note to everyone. Rick always looks at the stack of cards and the time I spend and comments how if I was like him and had only three friends, the task would be easier! I think I would rather have the friends :) We had the Christmas program for church last night and it was just great. We had a packed house and you could tell everyone enjoyed themselves very much. We were thrilled to see how many unchurched have their children in our programs on Wed. night and then the Christmas program. It was a great outreach night. Our Kristi was the assistant director and we received much praise for her work and commitment to this project. She was great and we were very proud of her. Annie and Melody were in the program and did a great job on their lines. Melody had a solo part with her good friend Hannah and it was so beautiful. I just enjoy these wonderful times with our little country church. We were caring for those two little guys again today and they just left. Time for us to haul wood and get supper ready. Pot roast with veggies and other stuff, I just can't think of what the other stuff might be at this moment. :) |
