Christmas in Johnsonville!

Posted in Home Life

I cannot say that Christmas is over in our home as we are a family that really embraces the 12 DAYS of Christmas.  No, not in the religiosity way, but in the celebrate daily with many different people way.  What does this look like?  Well, here are some of the events so far:
A day of going to the big city and shopping and being with friends
Having dear friends over to celebrate Annie O's birthday and to watch the Packer game.  This was Annie's first cake since her mother went to heaven three years ago....... it was a wonderful day.
Caroling parties at a friend's home
Movie and pizza night in Sturgeon Bay to see National Treasure 2...... great time
Movie night at our home with friends and hot cocoa, fellowshipping together
    Family dinners here
Having friends over to watch the bowl games in the evening.... how much football can a group of men watch?  Stay tuned and I will let you know!
Most importantly, Having a beautiful candle lit Christmas Eve service to worship God and sing praised to His name for the precious Gift of Jesus.
Christmas day gathering at an Uncle's house and singing carols for our elderly grandmother to bless her.
    And to come.........
    Family bowling night
Jeni's birthday party with friends and family
New year's Eve party with 36 coming for dinner, Yankee swap, games and fire-works
New Year's Day game day, playing games and napping off and on to recover from the night before!
    Family fun night
Snowmobile and sledding day, if enough snow remains
Homeschool mom's breakfast together to encourage one another!
So much fun and so much more to be had together!
This is a great time of year.
I forgot to mention above that we will also have a visitor named Jason here for the weekend.  He is  interested in our daughter Jeni.  We do know Jason somewhat, but this will give us a good chance to know him better and for them to be together.  He will be staying up in out cottage with our son Matthew.  He is a Bear's fan so that could be an issue this weekend  :)
So, today I need to clean up the office area and the school room so that they can be used for seating people on NY Eve.  I also need to make sure we have seating for all of these folks!  I have Christmas lights on the front porch that I need to hang or put away as well as clean up the porch.  I also have end of the year billing that I need to get done.  It will be a busy day and I hope that I can get it all done.
Friends are in from California and the husband will be here watching college football.  I need to figure out the food for all of the guys that will be stopping in to hang out here.  It is really fun to see men enjoy being together and I notice that although they are "watching" football, there is often some great conversation going on between them.  Men are not so shallow as many women like to believe.
I am off and running.......
