The Kids have been having a lot of fun catching and watching butterflies. My 9yo ds goes off with his bug net and catches butterflies to give to all of the younger kids. Some of the younger kids can catch their own, although we need to get more bug nets. I found plans for making good bug nets but need to buy the materials and find the time to make them.
