Homeschooling’s Dirty Little Secret
Guess what?
You can do everything right. You can sacrifice financially, career-wise, goal-wise and give your life for your children and they still have their own will to go their own way.
True.
But no one wants to talk about it.
Well, I’m here to break the silence. It’s time to talk. It’s time to get real.
Sometimes, our kids won’t embrace what we’ve taught them. Sometimes, they’ll stray and decide not to homeschool their own kids, or reject all the Bible stories you taught them at your knee.
And you know why?
Because it’s not up to you.
It’s up to God.
You need to know this. You need to know this when your son or daughter goes their own way and lets sin enter their life because they think they know more than you.
If you have a little 3-year-old boy or girl right now, you may never think that could possibly happen. I don’t blame you. Neither did I.
But it does happen. And when it does happen it’s important to stand on the Word that you’ve taught your child and stand and stand and stand and never stop praying.
Because the devil can’t have your children. They aren’t his to have, and you’ve given them to God.
When your child strays, it’s not because you’re a bad mother, it’s not because you didn’t do something right or missed something.
Your child may stray because they have their own mind, will and emotions. They stray because they love themselves more than God. They stray for the same reasons you doubt God.
Don’t let the devil lie to you. Your child will come home. Do you believe His words?
Pray this way for your prodigal child:
Lord, your word says to train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Well, I did the best I could, Lord. I made mistakes, yes, because I’m only human. But You promise that Your Word will not return void, and I have filled that child with YOUR WORD. So, Lord, fulfill your promise. Do whatever it takes to bring that child back to you. Whatever it takes, Lord. I will pray that dangerous prayer because nothing is as important as my child serving You with their life.
(Scriptures from Proverbs 22, Hebrews 5, Isaiah 55)
God is mighty to save, dear parents. He will fulfill his purpose for our children.
I have a prodigal right now. I know the pain. But I’m not going to let the devil have him. No. Way. Nuh uh.
The devil’s messing with the wrong woman’s child. My son has a praying mother, and a bright future that was promised to me when I carried him in my womb. I will see that promise completed until the time of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:6).
“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Zeph. 3:17
