I have been in on the beginnings of a great web homemaking mentoring program. Martha Matthews has started a Keeping Up With Keeping Your Home Mentoring program on her website Christian Homemaking. The classes require a membership.
The current class is Discovering Your Core Values.
For our first assignment, I have to think of the answers to the following questions. These were such good questions, I thought I would ponder them here.
1. On what things do I spend most of my time? I must confess, I spend lots of time on the computer. Most of it is not in large chunks, just here and there throughout the day. I spend lots of time on child care and training- probably the majority of my day is spent here. I also spend a good bit of time on housekeeping type stuff. Because we are here all day, we are constantly messing up what then needs to be cleaned up.
2. What do I see as my highest priorities in life right now? God, Jason, my kids, my home, everything else (in that order)
3. What character traits are important to me? being dependable-( I am bad about committing without thinking it through and then backing out. ) honesty (I don't like it when people put on a front or try to be somebody just to impress people.)
4. What principles am I unwilling to compromise? 1. God has given Jason and I the responsibility of training our children and we are not to "hand that off" to someone else. 2. Everything I am and everything I do should be viewed through the big picture of what God's big plan is. In other words, everything is not about me; in fact nothing is really about me; it is about God.
5. What people, things and activities are most important to me? My family, spending time with my family, reading and learning
6. What would I die for ?my family
I am sure I will think of more as I go through this class. These are my first ponderings. I think it is soooo important to do this because one thing I have been convicted of lately is how easily the best things get sacrificed to the good things. In other words, I can make choices every day to do certain things. Some things I choose are good things. But, if I am neglecting my first priorities, I am sacrificing the best for the good.
I'm sure that is as clear as mud.
But, I am coming more and more to see how important it is that I KNOW my priorities and ACT on them!
