Hi all! Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER. I now have a job. I exercise a Tennessee Walking horse mare named Lily every day for around an hour. Today I took her out for a ride in the front pasture. On one of our laps around, a small rabbit jumped out from underneath her feet. She just kept walking, but I was a bit startled so I had her stop to see what it was. Just a cute little brown bunny. As I started to post this, mom and dad noticed the neighbor's evil master-mind dog in our backyard. He just ran back towards his house, but Kodiak was going nutso over a strange dog in HIS yard. Tonight we are having company over for dinner. We haven't seen them in a long time, so I am looking forward to it. My beloved father keeps bugging me to say that I watched "We Are Marshall," "The Fellowship of the Ring," and "The Two Towers." There. I told you, so now dad can stop bugging:^) Hope you all have a great day!! |

Today is mom's birthday, although we celebrated it yesterday. Mom got a fancy-shmancy camera and a lot of pretty earrings. I got her old camera. I decided that I hate her new camera, because she tries to take too many pictures of me!! Earlier we went to a youth outing. We ate lunch at Chik-fil-a with David (youth pastor), John (youth pastor's buddy and intern), Kate, Lauren, Chase, Patch, mom, and, well, me. I had a blast. Then we went to the library, where I got 7 books and have already finished one of them. We then proceded to PetSmart and got a DogsUSA magazine (my all-time favorite dog magazine), Pupcorn ( a cheese-flavored styrofoam dog treat), and a clicker so I can clicker-train my selectively stupid dog. After that we went to a hobby shop then to the post office, then home. If anyone is wondering, I will now explain clicker-training. First, you will need a clicker, some of your dog's favorite treats, and a dog. You must click the clicker and then give the dog a treat. Sounds simple, huh? Not so. You have to gradually introduce a clicking sound (scares a lot of dogs at first) and the treat must be given no more than ONE SECOND after the click. Like I said, not so simple. Kodiak is doing pretty well, considering he IS selectively stupid. The point is for the dog to eventually associate the click sound with being good and being rewarded, therefore replacing the need for treats in training. I put mine on a yellow ribbon so I can hang it like a necklace, and to keep me from losing it. That's all I have for now. Hope everyone has a good day!! |

Sorry I haven't posted! I guess I just got tired of blogging for a little while. Does anyone else ever get tired of blogging? Nothing much eventful has happened here, except that a medical helicopter almost landed in the field across the street on the Fourth, but then it flew away. I don't think this post is going to be very long. I just can't think of anything to post about. Oh!! I just thought of something. I have a new person on my friends list!! Click on HorsieBabe to see her blog. It is really cool. I hope everyone had a great Independence day!! |

Greetings from the guest writers while Tuper is at camp. We miss her dearly, but surely pray that she is having a great time. We've heard nothing but wonderful things about the camp and the activities that they provide for the campers. Patch says we've destroyed her room - Moved her bed to the shed and made a place for her to be a galley slave on the treehouse ship "Gospel". We hope she comes back anyway!! Kodi will be happy to see her too. If I had to guess, I'd say Tuper will have a good deal to "post" about when she returns. She'll be back on Saturday, but I'd be surprised if she posts before Sunday evening or Monday.
We hope you are all well.

Like I said before, I think I will be yawning for the rest of the week. When I got to the therapeutic riding center, I signed in. Then I swept the barn isle. While I was sweeping, a flea-bitten gray (that's a color) named "Share the Court" (everyone calls him Romi or Romeo) stuck his head out of his stall for a brief hello. After sweeping, I groomed and tacked up a bay mare named I might post again later, but I don't think I will because I am going to be really sore. |

Hi all! On my last post AuntSharon typed a tidbit that had a few questions in it. These are my answers to the questions. First, nothing is wrong with my feet. They are just what goes into the detox bath. Second, a detox bath helps pull toxins out of your system, resulting in feeling a lot better. Third, my sunburn is not healing well. It got water blisters, then peeled like crazy, and now the skin underneath looks like toad skin. It is still peeling, and about every five minutes or so mom comes up behind me and starts to peel the skin off. Patch tried once, be he accidentally pulled out a hair with it, so I haven't let him peel any more skin off. Be sure to check out the blogs on my friends list!! |

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't posted for the last few days! I am not sure how long this post will be, because my brain is in a tad of a jumbled, confusing, spinning mess. Tomorrow I have a homeopathic treatment. It takes almost an hour to get there, and my appointment is at 10:00, which means I generally have to get up at around 7:30. Does anyone know where I am going on Thursday I would be taking my weekly math test today (we use Math-U-See, which has a short test for every lesson completed), except for one teeny tiny thing: I cannot for the life of me remember how to divide a fraction. It is a great plague to my very existence. Mom will have to review it with me AGAIN Has anyone noticed my new header picture? I was in a mood to change a bunch of stuff, so I just up and changed it. If you look at my sidebars, you will notice that their respective titles were some of the victims of my "Change-some-stuff-oritis." It was pretty easy to change, once I figured out where to edit the titles in the HTML. Next I think I'll try to change the dots (those little ones in front of my friends list) into horseshoes or smileys. That's all I can think of for now, but I might post again later. |

This whole title thing is getting rather aggravating Today I went to a youth event. We left at 9:00am to go clean a local middle school. It was my first time ever seeing the inside of a middle school, and it was not exactly a favorable experience. The facilities were hideous, and, may I say, rather outdated. Of course, this particular school does have some of the worst facilities in the area, as I heard from one of the people who was with us. We then ate lunch at Chick-Fil-A. I had a coffee-caramel milkshake. So good Tomorrow we are going to a wedding. I really don't know too much more about it, other than that it is people from my dad's Sunday school class. I thought I would just put in this picture for laughs. |

I got a really big book from the library! Yipee! It is 1,300 pages long and is called *drum roll* "The Merick/Merial Manual for Pet Health." And I, Jan, am going to read the ENTIRE THING. The library had a beautiful collection of butterflies on display. Since I am collecting butterflies (I have a few very nice specimens, including a huge luna moth) I found the collection enrapturing. They even had specimens from Asia and Japan. They were beautifully kept, and I think I will try to save up some money to buy cases like the ones they had the butterflies in. After looking at that, a man asked us if we wanted to sign up for the summer reading program. I politely said that I thought I had "aged out," which was basically saying "no," but in a nicer way. The man behind the table promptly announced that it was for children up to seventeen. Mother said that Patch and I read so much that it might be tedious to mark down all the hours. The man asked me what grade I was in, and, after being told by me that I was in seventh, asked if I had participated in "Battle of the Books," which is a public school program. I said "Oh, I'm home-schooled," and he just said "Hmph," in a way that seemed like I had offended him by our family's choice of education. I was rather displeased at this, but I didn't say a word, because mother and daddy have taught me better than to back-talk to my elders, whether I like it or not. Mother looked at the books in the "Battle of the Books" rack, and she said Dad had lunch with our pastor today. He had ribs. After he got home, he took us out to get ice cream. I had a chocolate milkshake. While we were there, some kids came in and took all of the free cake samples for one cake flavor. I was angry at that, but I wasn't too worked up since there had only been four. I did notice that the other cake samples were gone or low, but thought nothing of it. Then, when we sat down, we saw a pyramid of empty sample cups that was five or six cups high and probably seven across at the bottom. Then we knew why all the cake samples were low; those mean kids had taken them all and left the trash On Friday I get to go on a trip with our church's youth group Tomorrow we are having the pastor and his family over for dinner. We are having pork and rice with peas. I love pork and rice with peas |

Why did Big Brown have to lose? Why, I say, why? I so wanted to have a Triple Crown-er this year Church went really well this morning. We had Sunday School outside today, since all the girls thought the room was too cold. So we went outside and sat on the steps. Then that got too hot, so we went to the small area that you can see from our room's window. It was nice and shady, but still warm. We did chapter 18 from the book we are going through, the Power of a Praying Teen, by Stormie Omartian. Then we did a small bit on Jehovah's Witnesses, since we were all wondering about false religions, and we were curious about what those door-to-door ladies who hand out literature with pictures of Jesus (which make him look like a wimpy hippie) believed. We were all surprised Mom is napping right now, but Patch, Dad, and I are watching VeggieTales Jonah. Hey, nobody's too old for funny stuff. |

Has anyone noticed that when I figure out something new, "Woohoo" is always in my title? Anyways, what my HTML change was is related to my comments. Don't worry, you can still post comments and all, but I changed what they are called, and you will just have to go post a comment to see what I changed it to I had a really great entry earlier, I mean it had everything perfect, but then I accidentally clicked a file on our desktop instead of scroll down arrows and lost the whole thing. I was SOO bummed Who (but me) is excited about the Belmont? I am going to list a bunch of nonsensical pedigree stuff now, so you can just skip this part if you want to. Did you know that Big Brown has Northern Dancer as a grandparent on both sides? (BTW, that is called a 3 by 3) And that he is a 3 by 4 to Damascus? If you are wondering, those numbers mean that, in relation to Northern Dancer, you would have to go back 3 generations on both sides. The dam's(that is the female parent of a horse) side is the second number. If you want more about racing, you can read USA today. There is also a horse named Casino Drive who is also one of A.P. Indy's offspring, just like last year's Belmont winner, the incredible filly Rags to Riches (who beat out last year's horse of the year Curlin, in a stretch battle that was beautiful to behold). This is the running order:

I am not sure how long this post will be, so just hang on! Today I had a homeopathic treatment. I had a de-tox foot-bath. I felt so good when it was over! The lady who treats me is a Christian homeschooling mom. She took me out to their backyard to see the turkeys and chickens they are raising. They are so cute an fluffy! I bet they will taste really good once they are cooked. *Slurp* I guess I should get back to my school-work now. Hope you all have a great day! |

My buddy, Lauren, and I put our heads together (literally) and figured out Do you know who Big Brown's biggest rival in the Belmont is? (Truthfully, I thought he was least likely to rival Big Brown) It's Denis of Cork, the horse who placed 3rd in the Derby. Patch was rather happy about this, since he likes Denis of Cork. |

Once again, I cannot think of a title! I think I need to set up those entry-catagories thingies, 'cause then you don't have to think of title. Today I am going to have to do a LOT of work on my room. Momma wants the house to look perfect, because we are having our youth pastor and the new youth intern over for dinner tonight. Mom made the most delicious pies for dessert. According to the recipe card, they are called "Lemon freezer pie," but that name is not very interesting, so I call them "Freezer delight pie." Much more interesting, don't you think? I have been plowing through books this week. (unfortunately, they are not my school books) Remember how I mentioned that Aunt Sharon gave Patch a book called "The Lightening Thief?" Well, he liked it so much that he used a Barnes& Noble gift card to buy the other three books in the series. Then I started to read the first one, just because I was curious. I was hooked. I started the first book, "The Lightening Thief," on Saturday, then went right on and finished "The Sea of Monsters," "The Titan's Curse," and I am now working on "The Battle of the Labryinth." If you haven't figured it out from the names, the books are about Greek mythology, but in a modern setting. Some of the old "bad guys" are back( ie, Kronos, the Titans, Atlas) along with a bunch of new bad guys to make it interesting. I would definitely reccomend trying them. However, they are not the kind of book where you can read them out of order, because there is a lot of stuff mentioned in previous books that comes into play in the later books. I would say they are adventure books, but there are some really funny parts. Patch has gone to get a hair cut, and I am sitting here, somewhat brooding over the fact of this big ol' pimple under my nose. It is big, ugly, and on top of that, IT HURTS LIKE CRAZY!!! But fortunately you can't see it very well, because it is hidden in a shadow. It is also itchy, and... Have I brooded long enough, or do you want to hear more? lol. That is all I can think of for now. Oh, and I hope you all have a great day! |

Ok, I officially declare my surrender to titles! I can NEVER (note the capitalization) think of a sensible, catchy, concise, interesting title that actually has something to do with what I'm posting about. GRRR! Whew, I just had to get that out:^) Well, today the tree-cutter-downer-people finished cutter-downering the trees. I'm not sure if I posted this before, but one of our neighbor's trees got stuck by lightening in the last storm (which was huge). The crack in the tree was probably over 12 feet long. Ok, back to my day. Once I did my school and chores, I biked over to my friend Bonnie's house. We played dress-up, but it wasn't entirely dress-up, because it was more the scenarios with the costumes acting as a sort of prop. Then we ate dinner (pizza!) and I went shopping with momma. We got two tank top, one aqua and one heather gray, a white eylet lace top, a really cute pair of green satin patterned ballet flats, and a pair of moderately low rise trouser-style jeans.(I finally got to use my Old Navy gift card from Grandma!) I am wearing my flats as we speak, or should I say as I type and you read:^) Is anyone checking out the blogs on my friends list? I'm sure they would all really appreciate your comments. Speaking of comments, I have reached (and passed) 100 comments on my blog! Woo hoo! I am absolutely thrilled and want to thank you all for commenting. You don't know how much I appreciate it! Hope you all have a great day and weekend! |

I am sooo tired! Today I was volunteering at a therapeutic riding center, and I was a side- walker, which is the person who walks beside the horse holding on to the rider's ankle or thigh. Being a side walker for 45 minutes is tiring, not only physically, but mentally as well. The mental part is because you have been privileged with a BIG responsibility. You have to reinforce what the leader asks the rider to do, but you can't do it too soon, because then the rider would not be thinking for themselves, which is part of the therapy. You also have to watch for seizures, off-balance position, and overall keep the rider secure and safe. Besides that, you have to keep up with a horse. Very tiring, but very rewarding as well. We had a tree taken down today. We decided to have it removed when we found out that our neighbors were having some of theirs removed because one had been struck by lightening in a recent storm. The crack in the tree was HUGE; probably at least 12 feet long. I know this post is fairly short, but I am so drained I do not think I can post any more without falling over into a deep sleep. ZzZzZz..... |

(although momma thought it was gross)
about not being able to go to camp, because most of my friends were going. The payment deadline was already past, and they were leaving tomorrow. Sunday school went about as usual, but on the way up to church mom stopped to talk privately to dad. In church, before worship time, mom told me I was going to be able to go to camp because another camper had to drop out and the spot was already paid for. She was so happy that she started crying. I almost went into shock. I am feeling so blessed. God knew the desire of my heart and made it happen. Then we realized that I didn't have enough shorts, nor a one-piece swim suit, nor water shoes, so we have major shopping to do
. But still, God is good and I have been blessed. Anyways, I hope you all have a great week and I will try to post when I get back if at all possible.
Sooner
. Stinkin' old fractions.
. Then we went to a lake swim club, and Hannah and I swam almost the whole time. Unfortunately, I did not get my back, shoulders, or face with sunscreen. Now I am in quite a bit of pain
It is a picture of our dog as a puppy (big puppy, huh?) with his now-departed
buddy Leo. We had originally put out the tub so they could drink, as it was hot out, but Kodiak decided to take it one step further and sit in the drink. Silly puppy
This is a picture from our vacation at the cabin. The view was absolutely beautiful!
! Anyways, I hope you all have a great day.
. Most horses who lost the last jewel still went down as greats in my book, but not him. You know why? He has been running on legal steroids, and since he didn't have any in his system this last race, I think they were enhancing his performance. For one thing, I don't agree with drugging the poor things anyways, but if he runs like that without them, he isn't worthy to be called a great. But I was very impressed with Da'Tara's performance. I mean, leading the whole way, and still winning? Now that is a great horse
that people could actually believe that stuff.
how to put in those smiley things!
