The Wonderful Life of a Tuper

Oct. 2, 2008 - Will it ever be tomorrow?

Did you know that tomorrow is my 13th birthday? It is! I am excited, but Spanish class is also tomorrow and I have to take a huge test and I'm not looking forward with that. But other than that, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I might even go to bed early tonight so I can get to sleep sooner so I can't get myself too worked up.

Gotta go get ready to go do a science experiment!

Sep. 23, 2008 - HA!

Hello!

Do you remember a couple posts ago I mentioned that I was going to audition for the part of Pliable in the Pilgrims Progress play drama club is doing? I got the part! So now people call me Pliable. At least my name isn't Giant's Wife. See, some of the parts don't really have names, like the Giant, Giant's Wife, Voices 1,2,3,4,5,&6, and Policeman. I am very happy, and I have to entirely memorize my part by December 1st.

Did I mention that I got a 95% on my first spanish test? Well, I did. It was really hard and the class-room's fluorescent lighting hurt my eyes.

Gotta go eat dinner now; have a great day!

Sep. 22, 2008 -

Hello everybody! How do you like the music video? I would love it if you posted a comment to tell me what you thought of it. Last night, mom downloaded the ENTIRE Flyleaf CD off iTunes, so now I have that song and many more on my iPod, much to Patrick’s chagrin. He likes quiet, sad, classical music; whereas I like loud, rowdy hard rock (though I do listen to pop rock sometimes). So basically my music drives him nuts, and his music drives me nuts.

I have news. My calm, 11yo Ivy League brother now has spiked hair. It ruins the whole Ivy League thing, but he does look cute.

Hope you liked the music video, feel free to comment about it, even if you didn’t like it and the screaming part scared you!

Sep. 15, 2008 - Side-bar add-ons!

Hello everybody! If you haven't already noticed, I have adjusted my sidebar. I added a link to Snowbird's website (listed as "SWO's Website") and a MUSIC VIDEO!!! No, I WILL NOT tell you what or who the music video is, so you will just have to play it to find out.

On Thursday I worked at the therapy riding center. I warmed up Marlee for a therapy session, then side-walked for one therapy session, then groomed horses, then rode Gordon. I got to canter on Gordon. It was very fun, as it was the first time in over a year that I have cantered. It was great. This time I didn't rub my chin raw.

I also started Spanish classes at a local Christian school. It is a pretty strenuous class, and the home-work is a killer. There is also an awful dress code, but never mind that. The class is every other week, on purpose so we have time for home-work. There are ten kids in the class (all are homeschooled, as this particular class is only open to homeschoolers) and I know half the class.

Right now Patch is at tennis lessons, so it is just me, mom, and grandma (who came over for a visit today). Oh, and the dog, too, but he's not that important.

Sep. 10, 2008 - Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so long!!!

Hi all! Sorry it's been so long since I posted.

Last Thursday I exercised horses at the therapy horse-back riding center for two hours. The chinstrap on my helmet rubbed my chin raw. It looked really ugly for a while, but it didn't hurt me, just my human vanity, lol.

I am now in a drama club! I am doing it through our homeschool support group, so it's just other homeschoolers. We are doing a play in January called "Pilgrims" and it is based on "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyon. Auditions are next Tuesday. I will be auditioning for the part of Pliable. It is a musical, and Pliable is a singing part, and I looooove to sing, and have done so before in previous musicals. So anyways, Pliable is a character who starts out the journey with Christian, Faithful, and Hopeful; but when Navigator (for those of you who read the book, Evangelist was re-named Navigator in this musical) mentions the dangers that lie ahead, Pliable freaks out and goes back to the city of destruction. Christian, Hopeful, and Faithful later see Pliable's spineless self in Vanity Fair, where he brutally votes for Faithful to receive a death sentence for a crime he did not commit. But recall; I haven't even auditioned yet, and if I don't get the part (though I think chances are good; how many people want to be a spineless, backstabbing, cowardly, no-good, ne'er do-well, meany-type character?) DON'T RUB IT IN, PLEASE!! Our teacher had us memorize this:

"If you don't get the part you want, want the part you get."

meaning that, if someone else get the part you originally wanted, just be happy with the part you got and don't complain. I am also one of seven people in the skit being performed at the 20th reunion of our homeschool group! Since drama club only started three years ago, the people that graduated earlier will not have seen the drama club perform, so we are doing a three to five minute skit. I am a cheerleader (oh joy). You see, it is about these people, the Bandanites, who have bandanas over their eyes, preventing them from seeing The Path. This represents the spiritual blindness of those not saved, and The Path represents the "road" which Christians walk on. I get to be a cheerleader. Like I said before, oh joy. But it is a funny part, and I get some funny lines, so I don't mind it too much.

So, that's what's going on right now. I'm off to go set the table for dinner now, bye!!

Aug. 14, 2008 - Sorry I haven't posted, unemployment, bees, iPods, painting, tech stuff, lexicons, t-shirts, John's departure, and cute-as-a-button

Hello everybody!! Sorry I haven't posted in so long.

I am now one of the millions of unemployed because Lilly no longer needs to be ridden.

My brother is allergic to bees. We found that out the hard way last Friday. He now has to carry and eppy (short for epenephrine) pen with him. Poor little fellow.

We got a new TV!! It is so much nicer than our old one. It seems we have had a lot of technology upgrades lately; computer update, TV, my new iPod, etc., etc.,

If you are wondering, yes, I did get an iPod. Aunt Sharon gave it to me when she and Mamaw came down for a visit last week. It is shiny and purple and has cool clicky buttons on it! I absolutely LOVE clicking buttons (lol).

We are painting our bonus room (which is where we do most of our schooling, keep the computers, have the main TV, and have mom's scrap-booking area) a pretty gray blue. It is Pantone color 5455 C, so if you have a Pantone book lying around, you can see what color I'm talking about. You could probably find it online if you wanted to, but I'm not entirely sure. Methinks we are also going to repaint the trim, too. We got new desks to put the computers on. They are white. I think our bonus room is gonna look real purdy when we're done with it.

After we got lunch at Chick-fil-a today, we went to David and John's office so John could teach Patch how to use a Koine (pronounced koy-nay. The type of Greek the NT was originally written in, and which is now a dead language) Greek lexicon. David passed out 180-weekend tees from a few years ago, which is good because I always like variety in my t-shirts. Patch really likes Greek, but I don't. However, he is a lot more of a scholar than I am, and Greek is a very scholarly language, so maybe that's why. Or maybe I am just plain obstinate. The first choice makes the best excuse, but the second choice is more likely the reality. Anyhow, Patch had a great time and I listened and talked to mom and David. Oh, and if you haven't read any of my earlier posts (or if you just missed the ones David was mentioned in) David is our youth pastor, and John is the summer intern and David's best friend. John is leaving in a few days, which is not a good thing. Everybody's really going to miss him. I think we should stuff Patch into a suitcase and send him with John, so he has a research assistant that likes Greek stuff. "Hello. I am John, and this is my research assistant, Cute-as-a-button." That would be so funny!! ( The cute as a button thig is really long story, so I'm not going to get into that today.)

Aug. 2, 2008 - My NEW tester blog

Hi everyone! Did you know that I started a tester blog? Well, I did. If you want to check it out, just click HERE to check it out. I just started working on a new template design. Once again, I used a pre-made template as a starting point and then altered it some. Here's a link to the HTML website I use for help:

Jul. 30, 2008 -

Today I blanched 39 ears of corn. And later I'll blanche White Mountain Half Runner string beans. If you're wondering, we didn't grow any of this ourselves. They were given to us. Later this week I'll probably blanche some tomatoes, too, if mom wants me to. Although blanching is hot work, it isn't too hard. I accidentally blanched my foot, too. I was pulling and ear of corn out of the water and some of the water splattered neatly onto the top of my foot. Mega ouwy. Speaking of pain, has anyone reading this ever been smacked in the collar bone by a trail stirrup before? Well, I can now raise my hand if anyone ever asks. It was not fun AT ALL. I was putting the stirrup over the saddle so it wouldn't hit Lillian ( Her full name is April's Designing Lilly, but Mr Duckworth, her owner, calls her Lilly, and I sometimes call her Lillian) in the side when I swung the saddle over. That was when the stirrup and I collided.

Hope ya'll have a great day, and try not to get injured by a trail stirrup or get your foot blanched;^)

Jul. 21, 2008 - YIPPPEEEEE!!!!!

I GOT A CELL PHONE!!!!! It is little and shiny and black and it flips open and it takes pictures and it can text but I don't have texting service. And I like it a lot. My wallpaper is a picture of Lily. Speaking of Lily, I got my first ever paycheck last Saturday. Only 12 and already earning money. What a great life.

Grandma drove me to work today. She also just got back from the second annual "Oldest Babes on the Beach" vacation with her sister. They go to a beach in Connecticut and rent a beach house for a week. She brought me back a beautiful aqua tie-dyed dress that weighs less than a feather. I am wearing it right now, and it is so wonderful.

Yesterday I downloaded Britt Nicole's CD "Say It" to my iTunes. I like it a lot.

So basically I am having the best week EVER, other than the week I spent at Snowbird. Hope ya'll have a great week!

Jul. 18, 2008 - Did I mention my dislike of titles?

Hi all! Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER.

I now have a job. I exercise a Tennessee Walking horse mare named Lily every day for around an hour. Today I took her out for a ride in the front pasture. On one of our laps around, a small rabbit jumped out from underneath her feet. She just kept walking, but I was a bit startled so I had her stop to see what it was. Just a cute little brown bunny.

As I started to post this, mom and dad noticed the neighbor's evil master-mind dog in our backyard. He just ran back towards his house, but Kodiak was going nutso over a strange dog in HIS yard.

Tonight we are having company over for dinner. We haven't seen them in a long time, so I am looking forward to it.

My beloved father keeps bugging me to say that I watched "We Are Marshall," "The Fellowship of the Ring," and "The Two Towers." There. I told you, so now dad can stop bugging:^)

Hope you all have a great day!!

Jul. 8, 2008 - A bunch of stuff ( I HATE TITLES)

Today is mom's birthday, although we celebrated it yesterday. Mom got a fancy-shmancy camera and a lot of pretty earrings. I got her old camera. I decided that I hate her new camera, because she tries to take too many pictures of me!!

Earlier we went to a youth outing. We ate lunch at Chik-fil-a with David (youth pastor), John (youth pastor's buddy and intern), Kate, Lauren, Chase, Patch, mom, and, well, me. I had a blast. Then we went to the library, where I got 7 books and have already finished one of them. We then proceded to PetSmart and got a DogsUSA magazine (my all-time favorite dog magazine), Pupcorn ( a cheese-flavored styrofoam dog treat), and a clicker so I can clicker-train my selectively stupid dog. After that we went to a hobby shop then to the post office, then home.

If anyone is wondering, I will now explain clicker-training. First, you will need a clicker, some of your dog's favorite treats, and a dog. You must click the clicker and then give the dog a treat. Sounds simple, huh? Not so. You have to gradually introduce a clicking sound (scares a lot of dogs at first) and the treat must be given no more than ONE SECOND after the click. Like I said, not so simple. Kodiak is doing pretty well, considering he IS selectively stupid. The point is for the dog to eventually associate the click sound with being good and being rewarded, therefore replacing the need for treats in training. I put mine on a yellow ribbon so I can hang it like a necklace, and to keep me from losing it.

That's all I have for now. Hope everyone has a good day!!

Jul. 5, 2008 - So sorry I haven't posted!

Sorry I haven't posted! I guess I just got tired of blogging for a little while. Does anyone else ever get tired of blogging?

Nothing much eventful has happened here, except that a medical helicopter almost landed in the field across the street on the Fourth, but then it flew away.

I don't think this post is going to be very long. I just can't think of anything to post about. Oh!! I just thought of something. I have a new person on my friends list!! Click on HorsieBabe to see her blog. It is really cool. I hope everyone had a great Independence day!!

Jun. 30, 2008 - I'm back!!

Hi all! I am back from a fantastic week at Snowbird!! Click here to see SWO's website.

Top ten things I liked about camp:

  1. Food
  2. Counselors
  3. Prayer Chapel
  4. Getting to know my brothers and sisters in Christ better
  5. Rafting on the Nantahala (pronounced nanuhaylu)
  6. The creek
  7. The Revelation skit
  8. Growing closer to Christ
  9. Learning what it means to be a Christian
  10. Having fellowship with other believers

Things I'll do differently next time:

  • Bring a canteen for water to brush my teeth with
  • NOT go on the three-man swing
  • Bring snacks
  • Bring sunglasses
  • Bring LOTS of extra clothes
  • Bring spare blankets
  • Shower more than twice
  • OK, skip that last one. It was kinda fun being dirty(although momma thought it was gross)
  • Bring a board game for idle time
  • Go on the Goliath swing
  • Go rappelling
  • Maybe go caving
  • Find somewhere to hang out my wet clothes
I might post more details about Snowbird later, but right now I am REALLY tired, so, in all probability, nothing I said would make  much sense at all. Hope you all had a great week!!

Jun. 26, 2008 - Missing Tuper

Greetings from the guest writers while Tuper is at camp. We miss her dearly, but surely pray that she is having a great time. We've heard nothing but wonderful things about the camp and the activities that they provide for the campers.

Patch says we've destroyed her room - Moved her bed to the shed and made a place for her to be a galley slave on the treehouse ship "Gospel". We hope she comes back anyway!!

Kodi will be happy to see her too. If I had to guess, I'd say Tuper will have a good deal to "post" about when she returns. She'll be back on Saturday, but I'd be surprised if she posts before Sunday evening or Monday. We hope you are all well. Dad for Tuper

Jun. 22, 2008 - I am so blessed!!

Sorry I haven't posted for the last few days! Actually, I will not be posting again for around a week, because I will be at camp!! This is how I ended up being able to go to camp:

I was feeling a little sad about not being able to go to camp, because most of my friends were going. The payment deadline was already past, and they were leaving tomorrow. Sunday school went about as usual, but on the way up to church mom stopped to talk privately to dad. In church, before worship time, mom told me I was going to be able to go to camp because another camper had to drop out and the spot was already paid for. She was so happy that she started crying. I almost went into shock. I am feeling so blessed. God knew the desire of my heart and made it happen. Then we realized that I didn't have enough shorts, nor a one-piece swim suit, nor water shoes, so we have major shopping to do. But still, God is good and I have been blessed. Anyways, I hope you all have a great week and I will try to post when I get back if at all possible.

Jun. 19, 2008 - YAWN!!!!!!

Like I said before, I think I will be yawning for the rest of the week.

When I got to the therapeutic riding center, I signed in. Then I swept the barn isle. While I was sweeping, a flea-bitten gray (that's a color) named "Share the Court" (everyone calls him Romi or Romeo) stuck his head out of his stall for a brief hello. After sweeping, I groomed and tacked up a bay mare named Sooner and put on a helmet. I was going to warm her up for a therapy session, since her back was sore and her gait gets choppy when her back is sore, and a choppy gait makes a pretty lousy therapy session. I had been riding her for a while, and I asked the lady who was telling me what to do when Sooner's rider would be there. The barn owner had just gotten off the phone with the kid's parents: The kid wouldn't be coming to his session. So I got another half hour on Sooner, which made for around an hour of riding. Yeah!! Sooner is so cute. Then I side-walked for two lessons. The pony who was being ridden is a little dappled gray Welsh cross named "What's It To Ya," but everyone calls him Sammy. As I found out, Sammy can drink out of a bottle of water. Silly pony. He's a real snuggle-bug. On the second lesson, there were two people riding, one on Sammy, and the other on Marlee, who is a medium-sized bay gelding. They are both really cute, though I would have to say that Hamilton (Hammy for short), who is a 3yo Palomino, is cuter.

I might post again later, but I don't think I will because I am going to be really sore.

Jun. 18, 2008 - To answer your question...

Hi all! On my last post AuntSharon typed a tidbit that had a few questions in it. These are my answers to the questions. First,  nothing is wrong with my feet. They are just what goes into the detox bath. Second, a detox bath helps pull toxins out of your system, resulting in feeling a lot better. Third, my sunburn is not healing well. It got water blisters, then peeled like crazy, and now the skin underneath looks like toad skin. It is still peeling, and about every five minutes or so mom comes up behind me and starts to peel the skin off. Patch tried once, be he accidentally pulled out a hair with it, so I haven't let him peel any more  skin off.

Be sure to check out the blogs on my friends list!!
