Today our mission was to head to the Scholastic Book Warehouse sale.
The book warehouse was very close to Colmslie Beach Reserve so we took the opportunity to go exploring.
This park is right next to the Brisbane River which begged us to get closer.
However we were torn between the shore and the sky. You see, this park is not far from the airport so every few minutes a plane flies low over the top of you. Mums of boys will understand that this is a huge thrill.
If you aren’t deterred by these signs…
there is a flight of steps down to the riverside and a short boardwalk.
The boys were a little in awe at being quite so close to the river.
We could have sat admiring the river activity for ages.
It was such a beautiful quiet spot
…in between the plane flyovers of course!

Our adventures continued over to the children’s playground.

This playground was a winner with my little men.
Their imagination was working overtime.
I had to encourage the boys to climb into the shipwreck though. It looked dull from the outside
…but, once inside, the boys discovered that it was a musical boat! They were intrigued and delighted.
There is so much attention to detail in this playground
and lots of surprises.
Even the plants tickle the senses.
And different places to explore just kept jumping out at us.

Brayden couldn’t stop saying, “This park is so much fun!!” over and over again.
Oh, there goes yet another plane…hehehe
My little men
had a truly wonderful time.
They bought home a hodge podge of colourful nature finds
and I bought home a big bundle of books.
Ahhh, the perfect day

Comslie Beach Reserve was one of our favourite parks when we lived near there. I’d forgotten how wonderful it was. We have plenty of fond memories of playing at that park. Someone needs to create some equally excellent parks in this area of the world! Thanks for the tour down memory lane!!!

Oh my boys want you guys to come and play with us there one day. They assess things according to how much fun it would be for their friends to join them there.
We wondered too if you use to frequent the place.

We are heading to the sale over here tomorrow. But we will partake in some ice skating afterwards though. What an awesome park! Reminds me of one over here fondly called ‘volcano park’ because of thewater eruption volcano I suppose
I’ve never been to one of these warehouse sales, do they only have children’s books discounted or are there resource books on sale also? I guess I will find out tomorrow

Ugh! our sale was sooo disappointing
But i am kicking myself now for not getting the “our Australia” books, i wanted more than 3 and got stuck on the idea of needing a set :/ silly goose.
I tend to have better luck at the State libray book discards. they have their “gift shop” filled with about 3 walls of discards. the first time i went i thought it was only the 2 tiny racks outside
….jamie hates when we got o the city library heh heh heh

The “Our Australia” books aren’t that good. When they were first published I was so excited. I borrowed them from the library to have a squiz and then didn’t bother buying them. The quality of writing is mediocre to say the least. They weren’t worth paying full price for but they were okay for a dollar or two each. I figured they’d be useful since there wouldn’t be much else writing about some of these places. I still have threeish I think to complete the set but they’ll have to fall into my lap. I’m not hunting them down or paying full price. So don’t feel too bad about leaving them behind. Borrow them from the library and it might make you feel relieved that you left them behind. Hehehehe.

Oh thanks
I had the same feelings of excitement, plus we drove through some of the places in the set, so I thought it might be a good tie in. Will take your advice and borrow them first…if I can find them!
