Just the Beginning Of a Great Christian Reformation!

Some of the most encouraging events I’ve ever been to were the conferences put on by Vision Forum. Two weeks ago, I and my family were able to attend one of those conferences– The Reformation 500 Celebration. I have never been anywhere so exciting, so thrilling and so Historical as Boston, Massachusetts! Hundreds of Christian families gathered in this beautiful city to celebrate the Protestant Reformation, the five hundredth birthday of John Calvin (one of the most important leaders in the Reformation), the birth of our country, and the lives of the many patriots who brought us the freedom we enjoy today.

Families gathered in the beautiful Boston Garden for our march on the Fourth of July.

Families had the opportunity to come to Boston in costume. Many did and the costumes were amazing! They came as true patriots, pilgrims searching for religious freedom, and kings and queens from the 1600s. It was so much fun to see those families walking on the Historic streets of Boston.

Vision Forum even had people acting as Christian reformers who lived from the 1500s to the 1800s. People such as John Knox, Queen Anne Boleyn, Sir Walter Raleigh, George Washington, Abigail Adams and many others. You could talk to them and ask them about their life, and where they lived and things like that. It was very fun to listen to people talk to them. If you told them you live in Texas they would ask you if it was a new city in Spain. Or if you told them you like their costume they would say "I don’t know what you mean, I wear this every day!".
Lovely queens!
Sam Adams and queens from the Renaissance.

We also enjoyed some incredible talks by great men striving to be the faithful remnant. I wish I’d been able to hear more. I’m so glad we are getting the recording of all the talks! It was so encouraging to hear them speak. We heard wonderful talks about reforming our culture, and following the example of Christians before us.
Another great part of the conference were the faith and freedom tours. These tours were led by people helping with the conference and they told us about the Christians who helped to make the city of Boston. We were able to see the U.S.S Constitution and the State House.

Unfortunately I was unable to bring my violin on the trip, and forgot to bring my CD player. So I was quite worried about suffering from a terrible lack of beautiful music. Well, Vision Forum brought some great musicians to town, and I don’t think anyone suffered from the lack of music! Charlie Zahm and his fiddling friend, Tad Marks, brought us some great Scottish ballads and Patriotic songs! I enjoyed all of the music, and we came home with two CDs!

Mr. Phillips surprised everyone with his amazing talent — playing the harmonica!
Another great musical family. They played in the hall when we had spare time! They were great!

Well, that’s all for now. But I will post about the rest of this amazing trip in the days to come. While you are waiting you can go to my sisters blog and read her wonderful, much more detailed post on the trip! Stay tuned!
