Rainbow Brite

Now lets all be honest and admit that just a few years ago (or a few more than a few no one is counting right?!) we all played with Rainbow Brite and all of her friends. We remember her as this well bright doll we all wanted to be just like.  Hmm… come to think of it maybe she’s why I had that bright orange dress when I was a kid…

Well, 25 years later, she’s back and brighter and better than ever!  We got to try out one of these dolls and of course the girls barely got the box open to see what mom ordered and she was out of the package.  Jillian was allowed to play with her first because she was sick, admit it you let the sick kid have everything first, a good wipe down with a wipe and it was Brooklynne’s turn.  They have been playing with her since they got her.  Even Cameron was looking for her this morning, now there’s no guarantee he wasn’t going to turn her into a wrestler.

I must say she is quite a bit heavier than a typical Barbie doll, which is nice, means more play time around here anyway.  She came with little pieces shoes and arm thingys but they weren’t so little I wouldn’t give them to Jillian and she is able to put the shoes on just fine.  The Mitchell experience has been good thus far.

Now that we’ve had to opportunity to have a great time with her now is your time!  For everyone that leaves a comment you will be entered into a drawing to win one of the new dolls.  You will recieve either Rainbow Brite, Tickled Pink, or Moonglow, I do not have the power to say who you’ll get. If you either post the giveaway on your blog, facebook, etc. please post the link back to me and you’ll recieve an additional entry.  I will post the winner on Monday, Feb. 15.  Good luck!

If you don’t win or want to buy one you can purchase them currently at Target stores, they’ll soon be in Toys R Us stores or visit their website www.rainbowbrite.com

In the End

Often as homeschooling parents, or simply parents in general, we love to ask others for advice. How do you do this? How did you teach that? I was approached a few days ago on a few issues and one woman replied back, “well I’m just going to have to follow you around for a day, you always have such good ideas.”

Our Year has Begun…

Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday the year had ended? But already it’s time to get back at it.  This year Izac is in 4th grade! Wow I can’t believe it.  Cameron is in 1st, and Brooklynne is in year 1 of Kindergarten.  Jillian will just be running around causing chaos like always :)   I think Im going to run out of ink printing out the same Caillou coloring pages day after day after day…

We will be loosely using the Heart of Dakota curriculum Little Hearts for His Glory.  We were able to use a little over half last year so we picked up where we left off.  So far things are going OK, same issues as the past but am looking into alternative ways to attempt to get out of it. Option one.. workbox, or something similar if I can come up with it.

We are getting ready to start a unit on Native American history that we’ll conclude with a visit to a local state park and spend the night in a tepee.  The kiddos are very excited about it so hopefully that will increase their interest in the subject?  Does anyone have any recommendations on activities or lessons to go along  with our unit?

Lastly, does anyone have any possible solutions for children with attention problems?  We’ve had problems for the past few years and nothing seems to be working so Im open for suggestions.
