  • Simple Science Plan for 2012-13 Okay. I could go back to using books to cover ecology, astronomy, and physics since they’d relate to our history studies (Middle Ages/Renaissance/Reformation).  However, I think Howdy and Posie will just absorb interesting aspects of the 101 Series that Sis will be going through for the year. They will still [...]

  • History Resources for 2012-13 We only have a couple of months left of our current study of history. I’m planning for the next school year already. Any straggling books or writing assignments left over from this year will be completed over the summer. Geographical observations and memorization will encompass Europe and Asia, and will include map [...]

  • Posie will enjoy these happy handwriting pages.

  • But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than…[Read more]

  • Posie is almost finished with the 100 Lessons book!  She is now doing two lessons per day. We had to slow down for a time, but things are really clicking for her and she wants to read parts 1 & 2 each time to find out how the stories end.  She has plans to read [...]

  • I started to knit a Teddy bear for Posie today. Knitting in the round has been an enormous challenge for me. And, today, I decided to tackle it. I have the right needles; the perfect yarn that she will love is ready to be turned into a huggable toy. The only problem?  I STILL cannot [...]

  • Wow!  It’s been almost 7 months since I posted last!  Whew!  Time flies when it flies. Heh! Two-3 Day Practicums, Foundations and Essentials Tutor Training, Director’s Business Training, Parent Information Meetings, and Open Houses have all been part of our first semester with Classical Conversations. Howdy and Posie have enjoyed learning with…[Read more]

  • Rod and Staff Math is awesome! Howdy loves it and Posie will begin it soon! Thank Him for small wonders!

  • NotetoSelf wrote a new blog post: Taxing! 1 year, 2 months ago

No not homeschooling.  Taxes are taxing!  Well, I’m not complaining as we’ll get a refund, but the paperwork is a tremendously taxing burden in itself.

    Flat tax anyone?!?

  • So, we took a spring break (at least part of one) anyway. It was nice since most of us weren’t feeling well due to congestion.  Math and reading were about it, but since that’s the majority of what we do, I’m guessing we didn’t actually take a break, we just took some sick days.  Heh!

  • We’ve voted and decided unanimously that we don’t need a spring break.  Our study time is working well right now and we really don’t know what to do with ourselves otherwise.  So, it’s learning as usual this week.

  • When Posie finishes the 100th lesson, I’m going to start her on the McGuffey’s reader path of learning.  We’ll continue using the FIAR books for our Friday book break, I’m going to cover reading and writing by working with her M-F for 20 weeks using the Primer.  She’ll be reminded of what she’s learned about [...]
