Delaware State ATA Karate Tournament

This is Hannah’s first karate tournament.  She has her second one in two weeks and then one week after that she tests for her orange belt.  Hannah has gotten hooked on karate.  She turned in all her horses for  karate videos.  She changed so fast.  She goes to class three times a week and practices five days a week at home.  This balances out with the basketball.  During this tournament, Hannah won a trophy for the Best Karate Yell.  She was thrilled.  Here are some pics of the tournament…

Another year of basketball…

I am so excited!  Last year, Hannah begged us to let her play basketball for the local YMCA.  She hated it all the way up until the last week.  This year, she asked us to let her play, again.  We reluctantly gave in.  I am so glad that we did!  Hannah absolutely loves basketball!  She is a great on defense, too.

Hannah’s little friend, Camille, came to visit us during the week so, we decided that this would be a great time for a field trip.  Both of the girls loved the museum.  The following pics are from the field trip.

Hannah's first karate lesson…

As you may know, Hannah has been riding horses for a little over a year, now.  She started sparking an interest in karate, too.  We were invited to check out one of our local karate studios.  The night we showed up happened to be Black Belt testing night.  Hannah sat for over 1 1/2 hours and watched.  Afterwards, she looked at me and said, "I’m ready to give up horseback riding lessons for karate."  We decided to try it free for the month.  More to come of this later….I’m sure.

Field Trip to the Constitution Center…

I always try to incorporate something hands-on for Hannah at least once a month in the form of a field trip, as many of you know.  This months theme was, "Black History".  We went to the Constitution Center in Philadelphia to have a real experience.  Hannah had a great time.  There was an exhibit that made you feel as if you were inside the slave ship.  Hannah got so upset and asked me why white people did these things which is an answer I don’t have.  She cried and asked to leave the exhibit.  Other than that exhibit, though…the whole trip was awesome…
