As President Bush and Sec’y of Defense Rumsfeld have met with Gen. Casey, commander in Iraq, pray for these leaders to discern how best to manage the eventual withdrawal of our troops. Pray for complete victory in Iraq, for the continued strengthening of the Iraqi government, security forces and the infrastructure.

As the issue of immigration reform is debated, pray for the President and Congress as they consider how to bring needed change while still “welcoming the stranger” to our shores. Pray for God’s wisdom.

Pray for President and Mrs. Bush as on 6/29 they welcome to the White House Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Mrs. Koizumi for a formal state dinner and discussion of a variety of mutual concerns. On 6/30 the two couples will travel to Memphis, TN where they will tour Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley and his family. On 7/5, the President will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to discuss our common commitment to advance freedom and democracy. On 7/6 the President will welcome to the White House Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada to discuss a broad range of bilateral and global issues.

As Secretary of State Rice continues negotiations with Iran over their uranium enrichment program, pray for a positive outcome for her efforts and for growth in our relationship with Iran and its leaders.

Pray for the members of Space Shuttle Discovery as they prepare to launch on 7/1, asking God to empower the crew and keep them safe.

As the Senate has failed to pass a flag desecration amendment to be ratified by states, pray that all Americans will honor our flag and in so doing, honor those who sacrifice for our freedom. Pray that there will be a great upsurge of honor and reverence for our flag and our nation during this July 4th weekend.

As President Bush celebrates his 60th birthday on 7/6, pray that he will be strengthened by the Lord, encouraged in his spiritual life and blessed with good health.

As flooding this week has wrought great devastation and disruption throughout the East, pray for those working in recovery efforts and for calm weather.

Pray for our troops as they work to strengthen and advance freedom and democracy in the world, asking God to protect and preserve each one. Pray that each will know the gratitude of our nation and other countries of the world they work to assist. Pray that the insurgency in Iraq will subside.
