I am counting this as my Patriotic Friday entry because it's Jill Novak's way of saying THANK YOU! to our military! If you don't want to read the story behind this just scroll down a bit...but it IS a neat example of how the Lord is using HSB to bless people!
Now let's see if I can make this all make sense to you.
I was visiting my friend's blog and noticed Jill's comment about a free e-book for military families. So I contacted Jill and asked permission to share this info with all of you which she graciously allowed me to do. Her reply surprised me because it referenced HomeFront's very own
Cindy Burlingame as the reason behind her decision to offer this!
And just because I have had too much coffee and am feeling particularly chatty right now, here is a portion of my reply to Jill. And then I promise...the offer comes after that!
This is such as lovely and gracious gift to offer military families. I pray that many are blessed by it. Keeping in touch is one of the biggest challenges we face. The letters and emails we do receive from loved ones become touchstones and lifelines until the next one arrives. They become precious items that often are kept safe in Bibles and boxes over the years. I can't tell you how many from my husband are stuffed in my Bible to keep me encouraged when he is gone.
Jill, I want to share with you too, that I am the keeper of my parents' letters to one another from their time apart during WWII. My mother lovingly tied them with ribbons and kept them in meticulous order through many years of marriage. Little did she know that I too, would become a military wife and would know the treasure I held in my hands. I have not read them all; some are too hard emotionally to read . As time goes on, I occasionally take them out and read one. My parents have both passed on and some how their letters help me to continue to learn who they were and what they thought about marriage, love, and life.
