I AM Study – 'When Life Doesn't Work Out Like You Planned'

1. It was stated in the Lesson that God has made you "once, twice, three times a lady." Where are you in this progression? Obviously we have all been physically born, but are you ‘twice a lady’? Have you been born again spiritually?…write a brief prayer of thanksgiving or testimony
I praise God because He never gave up on me even when I gave up on my self. I made a profession of faith when I was a young child but never really had a relationship with God. It wasn’t until my early 20s before I actually began that amazing journey! I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for God’s faithfulness, His grace & mercy and most of all His forgiveness of my sins & my shame. Thank you Lord!
2. Are you three times a lady? Has God given you a stirring deep within your Spirit to be a ‘deliverer’? Do you have a desire or are you already meeting a need in the life of the church, a particular ministry (such as jail ministry, food ministry, etc.) or perhaps individuals who share common issues?
The Lord has given me many opportunities to be there for others and He still does that often. In the ministry (my husband is a pastor) it is very common for those in the church to seek you out for counsel and help. I have led several women’s Bible studies and will continue to do so as long as the Lord leads in that direction. There were a few women when I began my journey with the Lord who encouraged me and I try to do the same for those who are just started out and those who have been on this journey a long time. I don’t have a specific job title but I just try to be there and be available for God to use me in whatever way He wants to.
There are many times as a stay at home mom that I feel like there should be more to this life but that is a thought of the enemy. Even if there is nothing else but my husband and my children I am doing something worthwhile – I am doing the most important job, a job God has called me to. So when those thoughts come tumbling in I remind myself that I am doing something worthwhile.
4. What do you consider ‘worthwhile ministry’? Are you like me and sometimes find yourself mistakenly thinking it has to be Big to be Important?
Kind of the same as above…There are many times when I think bigger is more important or worthwhile but then I realize anything God asks us to do is worthwhile. I think a worthwhile ministry is something that makes a difference even if it is only in one person’s life.
5. Have you ever taken a spiritual gifts test? If yes, what are yours? If no, here’s a good one from Ephesians 4 Ministry. Will you take it and come back with a response?
A long time ago I took a spiritual gift test and if my memory serves me right the results were leader, teacher and exhorter. I never saw myself as a leader but I had other mature believers told me I was a leader. As I matured in my faith and the Lord led me to do things I can see it now.
