Frugal Fannies

Have I mentioned how much I am enjoying the Frugal Fannies we purchased for our cloth diapers?  They are wonderful!!

I've wanted to get a pic of him in on of his Frugal Fannies..so today was the day:  (of course I only had 1 clean, not my favorite...but I still took advantage of the opportunity)

SO here is our "diaper chaning station"  (I never used a changing table with Zachary or Joshua in disposables) but with cloth it has really been handy... plus chaning on the floor isn't as easy as it was when I was 24(ish).

On the first shelf in the Large container is our Frugal Fannies, and the smalled container next to it has our Frugal Fannie Inserts.  Beside that I put my covers.
On the next shelf in the large container is our 'burp' cloths.  And beside that are some disposable diapers and wipes.  (I use disposables when I am out for a long period of time).
Beside the changing table is (well looks like a pair of sox!!) but beside that is our dirty diapers!!  I just bought a plastic garbage can thingy with a lid...works wonderful!!  I also put a XL pillow case cover inside it and then each time when I wash my diapers, I also wash the pillow case cover and then spray Lysol in the container to keep it FRESH!
How do I wash?  Well I picked this up SOMEWHERE on line...but At night before bed...I run down and put them in the washer and let them soak over night in the washer with the water and 1/2 C Baking Soda.  The next morning I run that cycle thru, then I start a NEW cycle and use 2TBS regular detergent (Arm-n-Hammer) and 2 TBS Vinegar.  Then I run 1 more rinse cycle and then to the dryer (or the clothes line this summer) and WHA-LA...they're clean as a whistle!!
Oh and for wipes, I bought a pretty large piece of scrap fleece and cut it up into squares...and then I have a spray bottle of water that I use.  SIMPLE...and it is so smooth on his bottom.  They then just get washed with the diapers.
Here is the beautiful babe' in his Frugal Fannie:
I then just use a regular GERBER covers.  CHEAP...and they work great. (just don't dry em' in the dryer)   I did buy some Whisper Pants or whatever...I don't care for them at all...
Ahhh.. and he just loves being changed...he now has a caterpillar he talks with...so cute!!
XX
And that is OUR cloth diaper experience....

Your baby is so cute!

I would encourage you NOT to spray Lysol in the baby's room... Lysol is VERY toxic and will contribute to asthma, colds, etc. Believe it or not!

I use Basic G.... its inexpensive (VERY) and works great without the harsh chemicals!

There are other "green" cleaners on the market too.

I have one of those hampers and I can't stand the smell of it, so I made myself a wool bag.
And, ditto on the Lysol comment. :)
If you want to keep it fresh, sprinkle some baking soda and/or salt in the bottom of it.
