Oh my----Tomatoes, Corn, Yellow Squash, OH MY

Yes... I think I am a on my way to being a bit OVER whelmed----

Hubby just brought home 20 dozen ears of corn--- for me to put up tomorrow!  (he wants to get more-- we'll see )

Not to mention the 2 more BUCKETS of tomatoes we picked just TODAY... and the yellow squash which are coming out our ears.....

I'm gonna have to buckle down and just bring up the CANNER-- and can some of these tomotes into salsa and sauces etc.....

The corn will be frozen...that will be "easy" just HOT and time consuming....

He also got 3 pecks of peaches for $10!!  So I SHOULD-- put up some of that-- and get some more-- but oh my----

While typing this-- I have been looking thru some of my favorite "canning" / homemaking blogs-- to get some ideas and tips-- and came across--My Daily Round-- one my new favorite blogs to read-- and she reminded me that in just a few weeks our Grapes and Apples will be ready (actually last year our grapes ripened while I was in the hospital delivering Stephen--so my mom picked them for me).... Oh- thanks for the reminder...

Here are some other encouraging reads --incase you are in my shoes...

Carnival of Home Preserving

The Simple Womans Cannery-- including 4 parts of Encouragement for the Home Canner--

Hotwater Bath- This one is a new one for me-- but lots of info..

This is when I wish I grew up doing this stuff-- because I certainly did not-- and the canner makes me SOOOO nervous--- but I really don't have room to freeze much more.....   I hope and pray I pass along some of these "homemaking" tasks to my daughter when she arrives....(although one task I no NOTHING about is sewing--but if I can find someone to teach her--I will PAY them to show us).

Well I better head off to bed-- tomorrow looks to be a VERY busy day!!!

I too am canning a lot right now. We just got done doing our tomatoes and we did some apple sauce! I grew up around the canning, but unfortunately, my mentor's didn't have the patience to teach the ins and outs of it all to me. We basically did it this year on our own! We had a good time, but I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

While I have VERY little canning experience, I do love the look of those beautifully filled jars all lined up on an open shelf. That really is the best kitchen and pantry decor, don't you think?

It does sound like sweaty work so make sure you have a pitcher of cold iced tea on hand! Oh and TAKE PICTURES and share your fav (and ahem, easiest) recipes, okay?

Love,
Marsha
