Let see-- starting at 11 am (actual working on the corn) and ending at 5:45pm... I have 32 Quarts of corn done!!! When hubby first came home--I was so excited to get started--- and he wanted to take a quick nap-- so he took a nap and I headed down stairs to see if I could find any jars for canning salsa and things..... and LOOK what I found---- That's not even counting the 2 boxes of Maynaise jars--which i got rid of---- WOW!! I was so surprised---( I totally forgot I bought these from my friend when she lived nearby and had a yardsale-- I think they were her moms--- Can you beleive I just dug these out??? So embarassed).
My HELPERS helped me get them washed and dried......
Not sure which is wetter-- the screw bands or Joshua???
![]() So at 11 am-- we headed outside under the shade tree and began to husk the 20 DOZEN ears of corn we had---- It filled a plastic tote and then some!!!
Then we began boiling it-- It took about 25 minutes per batch to get it ready.... (this was the biggest time consuming issue)
By 1 pm-- I lost my 2 helpers-- that's okay-- they were REAL troopers during the washing jars and husking corn work!!
By 2pm-- hubby needed to get to bed-- so I was left to cut the corn off the cob and bag it up.... Nice little assembly line of sorts: (one little helper is always by my side....
except his nap time of course)And by 5:45 I had 32 Quarts ready to be put in the freezer!!
Hubby was very thoughtful and ordered 2 pizza's at lunch time-- one for dinner and one for lunch-- so that was nice-- because I was well on my way to being DONE!!
And yet-- tomorrow-- I still have much MUCH more to do...... (smile-- it's a blessing)
Needless to say-- I'm ready to go to bed tonight-- Stephen hasn't slept well--TEETHING-- and so I am hoping tonight will be better!!
