Posted in Home Education

Here is a pictureof my blessing -- training one of my sons to be a hard worker and in how to do cement work. You know I couldn't find a picture of him with his face showing?!?

The boys and DH are pouring cement for a carport.  They will also be involved in the construction of the carport and a mud room.   (See the drinks sitting on the wall?  That is my contribution.)   Yes a mudroom!!  I can't wait.  With four little (and big) mud trackers,  I need a mud room.

So what projects are your kids involved in with thier dads?   It does not have to be as big a project as a mudroom/carport....  they may be reading together /going biking /building legos / working on a bike /playing monopoly or chess.  Is he teaching your older boys to check the oil in your car?  I loved it when my oldest started pumping gas for me.

Lets hear about it,  give your man praise and recognition.    Blog on it and then leave me a comment with a link, or trackback.    I'd love to see how other dads are training thier kids.

My boys Dh included do a lot of building stuff together so I think I'll post a few of thier projects in the next few days.  So if you are interested in our many projects check back.

PS  Our last baby gold fish died yesterday....sigh.  So much for the biology project with mom.  Well we tried!

I just loved this post. Yep, seeing kids working with their dads is such a delight. I'll have to dig through and find a good picture of my kiddos working with Dad. Since he's built many custom homes there's pictures of my kids in THOSE homes....(like the one he's finishing with a $5,250 front door....WOW) But I'll try to track down one where it's our humble abode.

It took me a bit but I saw your posting on my site today and thanks. My daughters used to enjoy trucking with their dad (one at a time-he couldn't concentrate with three at once) and learning as they each got a car, how to maintain the vehicle. We live where we work so he interacted with them daily and participated in home teaching the practical things like mechanics (although I taught them wood working). Your family looks like they work well together on the car port. Some day you, like my man and I, will sit around at Christmas as a grown family and laugh and reminisce about these very things. What a true blessing!

Thanks for letting me know that the problem is only with the main page... I 'm trying to figure it all out. I might have to change my layout again!! This is bad timing for problems, too, cuz I have some neat photos to post to go with my HSB front porch entry tomorrow! Yikes. I have to blog about dad-son projects. What a great idea. My DH is such a wonderful father...I think I take it for granted sometimes...this is a great way to honor him.

I do like your contribution!! Just think, you'll be keeping the mudroom floor clean after it's built :) BTW, the view from your home is GORGEOUS!!

Oh I am jealous! :-) What a fun project for your family! My husband and son sometimes do woodworking together or shoot bb guns. This is the year, I think, to paint some of the rooms in the house and it's time to get the boy into that! And yardwork! Lots of yardwork!

The thoughts and reflections of a mom who loves being at home, and is doing all she has ever desired in her life..... Really... I love my life that much!

"And all thy sons shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy sons.
In righteousness shall thou be established."
Is 54:13-14
