• Wednesday, April 5, 2006 - Another dad/sons project

Here is another project that all my boys are doing together.

A log cabin fort made with telephone poles.  This fort is going to be the castle of forts.  In fact my 2 yr old calls it the castle.  They have been planning the thing for ages.  As in... several years!  I wish I had the drawings that have been done with all the ideas for all the different stuff they plan to make.   In the works are a zip line,  two stories, with a trap door and ladder to get to the upper level/balcony, a roof on the top story.  Pulleys for buckets to haul stuff up and down.  ( I am going to have to make a rule that the littlest boy will NOT be hauled up in a bucket! I can just see him tipping out.  "Ooops mom" )  There will also be a flag pole and a trap door in the wood floor of the bottom level with a tunnel dug out, to sneak away from the bad guys.

They are almost done with the pole part of the building.  This has been very time consuming.  Using a chainsaw to notch the ends so they fit together. The oldest son and my DH are the primary construction right now.  As soon as they get another layer or two of poles the youngers will be able to help more with the upper level and floor.  These will be regular stick built.

I joke that this fort will probably outlast the house!

Don't forget to leave me a comment with a link to your dad/kid project blogs.  I really am interested!  And remember building things is MY husbands forte.  So your dad projects may look very different.  It is the TIME together that counts!

I don't have a project to share right now. Sorry. :) My husband is a marine and has been away for almost 2 months- he'll be back next weekend! YAY!
I just had to post on how awesome that project is though!
I am pregnant with boy #3 and I have loved having boys. I get excited to look at some of you moms who are a little ahead of me in mothering as to the cool things we are going to get to do!
My son would agree- that looks like it's going to be a castle!
Incredible!

The thoughts and reflections of a mom who loves being at home, and is doing all she has ever desired in her life..... Really... I love my life that much!

"And all thy sons shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy sons.
In righteousness shall thou be established."
Is 54:13-14
