Hello! My name is Kim and I live in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada, with my husband Andrew and our three children ~ Nathan, Emily, and Ben. We have homeschooled off and on over the past few years. I homeschooled my oldest son until the end of Grade 3, and my daughter until the end of Grade 1. Then all three of my children attended a local Charistian School for grades 4, 2, and K5. They attended that school for three years, and then returned home for the following year.
To say that things did not go well during our year of Homeschooling is an understatement! Nothing went right! I was not focused (or committed) enough to make the year a success. The kids did not and would not apply themselves. Soooo, the whole year ended as a failure. Instead of repeating another disasterous year, we enrolled them in the Christian School once again this past year.
Part of the reason for the difficulties we faced was due to the Curriculum we were using. I LOVE the Curriculum, it just didn't love us! I found it to be too much for one person to try and teach three different grades.
We are planning on Homeschooling our children again this year, and hopefully (and prayerfully) with the Lord's help, things will go better! I am trying a new aproach to our schooling. Instead of a particular Curriculum, I am going to draw from a variety of different sources. Mix things up a little. My children are in Grades 9, 7, and 5 this year! YIKES!!!!! I must be crazy!!!! Please Lord, you HAVE to help me!
I am looking forward to a new year, and then at the same time I am terrified of it as well! If you think of us, please pray for the Lake family!I look forward to getting to know you all in the upcoming months!

I'd been wondering where you'd got to!
You seem to have had a hard time with homeschooling - we did after my son had been using a particular curriculum for a few years - but he's now happy again with a different one!
I suppose it's easier having just the one child to organise for!
God bless,
~Chrissy

I hope you'll have a better time of it this year. It can take a while to find what works for each child. I've been at it for quite a while and still find myself switching some things around even in the middle of the year because it's not working for my kid.

Nice getting to know you a little better. I hope that this homeschool year will go much better for you. Sometimes its hard to get started, and finding the "right" curriculum can be a challenge. Hang in there!
I loved visiting Nova Scotia years ago, and I keep telling my DH we need to plan a vacation up the east coast and see NS again.
Blessings,
Kym

I know how scary the high school years can be. I'm not sure what curriculum you use, but there are some you can use where you teach all the different grades the same thing, just at different levels. Two that come to mind are: Tapestry of Grace and KONOS. Hope that helps!

I hope this year goes excellent for you. HS can be such a rewarding and wonderful family event (but I'm not saying that it's not stressful at times!) The long term reward is worth it.
