Homeschool Memoirs: Field-Trips
Oct. 29, 2008

THEME:

This week I’d like to invite you to share your favourite field-trip that you’ve been able to go on since you’ve started homeschool. I’d encourage you to include photos, but you don’t have to.

My favorite Field-Trip was to Dempsey's Corner Farm Market a few years ago.   It was awesome!  We spent the day at the farm picking apples from the trees, chosing our own pumpkins to take home, learning about the different animals that were on the farm, etc.

Here are a few pictures of our trip!

Our guide talking about corn.  Nathan (black sweater) is trying to look interested.

Homeschool Memoirs #10: 10 Timely Facts
Oct. 22, 2008

THEME

The time will be changing again. I think on Sunday but not sure. Anyhow this is our 10th Homeschool Memoirs so this week it’s going to be about 10 timely facts about you! Write 10 interesting, crazy, weird, fun facts about you! Include facts about you as a woman, a wife, a mommy, a homeschooler, a homekeeper, a taxi-driver, a cook, etc . I only put 10 facts because I didn’t want to overwhelm you, but you’re welcome to do more!

1.  I am the oldest of 3.  I have two younger brothers, who are way taller than me (6'5", 6'2 and I am 5'7")

2.  I cheated in Math Class ~ Kindergarten!

3.  I hate June Bugs!

4.  My favorite meal is Baked Ham with pineapple sauce

5.  My husband tells me I am old ~ I am six months older than him!  LOL!

6.  I "balk tackwards" (talk backwards).  Quite often my words will come out backwards, which is quite funny for others.

7.  I have always wanted a small dog ~ and I finally got one this fall ~ she is part Yorkie and part Shih-tzu

8.  I have been wearing glasses since I was 5.  I used to walk into buildings and fall down going UP hills.

9.  I love to do most all crafts ~ knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, scrapbooking

10.  I have driven across Canada, been to South Carolina, and won a trip to Jamaica.  That is the extent of my travels.

11.  I just started drinking coffee a few years ago ~ after my husband trying to get me too after 12 years!!!!!

12.  I love spearmint leaves ~ the candy

13.  I have never been downhill skiing.  Just the thought of it terrifies me!!!!

14.  I love the movie Pride and Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth)

15.  I just got my Christmas Present, early ~ A Cricut!!!!!!

16.  I have a picture hanging on my wall that I absolutely love!  It says:  "Sometimes God calms the storm...Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child."

17.  I am not a very outgoing person ~ I tend to be rather shy until I get to know someone better

18.  My favorite television show is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ~ I cry through every one of them

Hmmmm, I guess I went over.  But, hey, I was on a role so I thought I would write until I couldn't think of anything else!  LOL!

Homeschool Memoirs: #7 Snack Foods
Oct. 3, 2008

THEME

Awhile back Mother Dear received a question on what snack foods to buy for homeschooling families, on the go or at home, and she inspired this week’s theme. There are so many different kinds of snack foods, store-bought and homemade, and I would like to invite you to share what snack foods your family usually snacks on throughout the week. You’re welcome to make season lists too. I know there are different meals we eat during the colder seasons than we do in the warmer ones, and I imagine there are also seasonal snack foods as well.

Well, my children don't usually eat a whole lot of "junk" food for snacks.  We do buy potato chips and pop occasionally, not a whole lot of candy (except for when it is on sale after Halloween, Easter, etc.)

My kids tend to snack on Whole Wheat crackers and peanut butter, Grapes, Homemade cookies, popcorn, and whatever else we may have on hand atthe time.  Oh yeah, apples, oranges, and bananas.  Not very creative I know, but hey ~ who has time to be Creative?????  LOL!

Homeschool Memoirs: #6 Summer Photo Essay
Sep. 27, 2008

THEME

This week I want to invite you to take a moment and post a Summer Photo Essay memoir. Starting from around the official date of Summer to this past week - just give a basic summary of your summer as I know someone of you are photoholics! Haha! Make sure you jot down your memoirs about each photo so everyone can read about your summer. You can do the essay however you want. You can journal a lot of just caption the photo! Can’t wait to see what you all do!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, our Summer began with the kids finishing their year of School at our local Christian School.  This is a picture of them taken on "Graduation" night.
July 1st was Canada day.  We spent the day at the Shore playing games and eating, and enjoying the time with family and friends.
Later that night we watched the Canada Day fireworks!
The month of July was spent mostly in the Hospital.  My Dad had a very aggressive form of Parkinson's Disease, and passed away on July 19th.
In August we went to Upper Clements Park ~ an Amusement Park nearby.
We also went Whale Watching
We also welcomed a new member to our family ~ "Riley"
