I had the opportunity to thrill 11 yo dd again today. snicker snicker
We attended another program at the same regional nature center that we went to yesterday. Today was all about Native American Rock Shelters (specifically the Leni Lenape tribe) and the temporary rock shelters they built to assist them with their fishing/hunting/gathering lifestyle. A rock shelter was discovered and excavated for artifacts in a particular section of this 3,000 acre park where the nature center is located.
I was a bit disappointed in that the program leader started earlier than the stated time so we missed some info, plus she had underestimated the number of people expected, leaving her with only five copies of handouts for the 30-some folks who showed up (we didn't get a set). Also, when we hiked through the woods to get to the shelter, about 15 of us were so far back on the skinny trail that we caught only half of what she was explaining about the site.
Other than that, it was a beautiful day and an interesting program (what part I heard), so I'm glad we went. But I'm thinking of contacting the director of the nature center to suggest how they can improve their serve.
