Show and tell Friday~Tree house

Posted in Friday show and tell

It is that time again!  To see more Show and Tells go to Canadagirl.  This week  I am going to show what my wonderful husband built for the children.  He spent last weekend building them a tree house.  The kids have wanted a tree house for a long time.  We have a huge Southern Magnolia tree in our front yard that the kids love to climb.  It provides such wonderful shade that the kiddos do not need sunscreen in the summer if they play under it.

My dh mostly used left over wood from the basement! Yeah!! This was a win-win situation. I got the basement a bit more cleaned out, my dh got to work with his hands after a long week of paperwork, and the kids got a new secret world to make up a hundred stories in.  The tree house is a platform 63 inches off the ground with railings and homemade ladder.  All 4 kids can play up in it at the same time.

Tom Sawyer is in heaven up there!

Two man duck duck goose in the tree house.

The view when on your back looking up in the tree house.

Blessings,

Dawn

OH, lucky, lucky little boys! My DH helped put up a zip line for the grandsons. I don't think the platform really counts as a tree house, but they do have fun on it. Hmmm...great idea for next week's S&T! I'll show the 15 second video of them zipping down the line.

There is nothing like a tree house.I so love Magnolia tree when they are big and old and well rooted. I saw the broad leaves and I knew.... They have themost fragrant flowers of any tree I think.Great post!

What a perfect tree for a fort! They look so happy. Was that you laying on your back up there??? I didn't know those trees got to look like that! You should see the pathetic little magnolias in Michigan. Now maybe there are big ones here and I just haven't seen them.....but I've been here a long time and love to look at them in the spring. They're beautiful, but definitely not tree fort material.

That looks really fun! Can you send me a list of what the different "special" days are. For instance, show and tell Friday? Thanks,

OOOOOOOOOO! My boys would think that is soooooooooo cool! Way to go hubby! My children have acted out history in our tower from the swing set but have longed for a "REAL" tree house for ages.

I can imagine your precious ones will LOVE it for a very long time!

What a great spot. Who doesn't love a tree house? And, so cool that you had most of the supplies and now have a cleaner garage! That tree is awesome.

We just had to tear our oldest son's tree house down after 16 years of use. It became hazardous, but all the great adventures held there will live on. Looks like you kids are having fun creating their own memories. Nothing better to a kid than a tree house.

This brings back memories of growing up in Africa. Here in a very busy city in the Middle East, tree-houses are things to dream about. What a wonderful asset a Magnolia tree can be :-)
