Well, not exactly, however, my intentions of journaling our family’s daily activities, fun events and other musings have not transpired as planned. I have felt challenged to become more focused, determined, regimented and disciplined to achieve my hopes or goals. One of them being, journaling!!! All for the purpse of looking back on the time granted by God to raise four of His children and to not feel regret. Keep focused on the eternal ....building treasures in Heaven! So, even though, I haven't written as I had hoped, I feel good about my time spent with my family, guarding against busy-ness, and treasuring time spent with them and training them up in the Lord. Now, I just want to write these treasured memories down!!!
As we swing into another year of home schooling, the organizing begins for me! Reading "How to organize your life" books, going to encouraging home school conventions, perusing catalogs for the best curriculum this year, and many drafts of our new schedule. The schedule that will allow us to conquer math, reading, spelling, music, science, history, PE, Latin, Greek, Bible study, Violin, Spanish, art, grammar, speech class, writing, and more... in a single bound! Well, hopefully by 1pm for my sake and theirs!!! We are itching to run and play!! Well, I have enjoyed a book called, "The Organized Homeschooler" by..... I don't remember. Well, the most significant thing I learned from it was to set goals. Yes, I have head the old saying, "Fail to make a goal and you will hit it every time.” or something like it anyway. Well, I was more specifically challenged to really write down my hopes, dreams, goals, whatever you want to call them for each child and seek Him for direction, wisdom and trust Him to provide! Character goals, academic goals, housecleaning goals, everyday life skill goals, etc. when written down help you formulate a plan, it helps you identify the need, and trust God to bring a solution. It has really helped to lay out what is truly important and what must go or be shortened in our schedule as well. There is only so much time in the day, and I want to stay focused on the treasures in Heaven and goals help me to see and prioritize my day better! And, my schedule has been falling into place. Our goal is to incorporate the three R's into a four hour block of time and leave lots of time for reading, art, investigating and discovering whatever their fancy is!!
Speaking of schedule, time is up, gotta go hug my munchkins!!
