During the Christmas season, I am always looking for creative ways to celebrate our Lord amdist a world that presents a different reason for the season everywhere we look it seems! This creative idea is not new, but I thought it had a wonderful new twist to it! It was sent to me by another homeschool mom, and I was blessed that it would help my young ones see "how many more days" until Jesus Birthday! As well as help mom maintain sanity in the process!! So, it is a little late in December, but just adjust the days accordingly. And, next year try starting right after Thanksgiving. And, thanks to my homschool friend who shared this brilliant idea to help reduce the amount of times my children ask "how many days till Christmas?"!!!!
Cut strips of construction paper to make links about 1 1/2 inches wide, 8 inches long. I used red and green alternating. Then I printed off this list of scripture verses that coincide with the 26 letters of the alphabet. I listed it below. Cut them into strips and paste 1 scripture letter to 1 construction paper strip. Loop them and staple them to make a chain. Number them 1 to 26 and hang it up somewhere where they can see it. Now they can answer for themselves how many days till Christmas. You only have 15 more days to go, but you could do all 26 next year!
