Stokes County 4H is offering an environmental field day for homeschoolers at
Camp Sertoma.
There will be around 7 environmental stations for students to
engage in hands on activities. The activities will be geared for a variety
of ages and will be very interactive.

Reynolda House Museum of American Art

Let the special people in your life feel loved during this holiday by creating mixed-media valentines inspired by works in the Museum’s collection.

These two-hour workshops begin at 2 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month for elementary school-aged children and older accompanied by an adult.
Art supplies and refreshments are provided.

Music Lessons and Tutoring

Jonathan Patterson was home schooled through high school with his sister, and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors in Piano Performance from Liberty University.

His mother provided him with opportunities to study art and drawing, woodcarving and woodburning, and drove over an hour to take him to accordion lessons for six years. Jonathan competed on the national level in Accordion, and at age fifteen he was a Certified Master Gardener for Ohio State University.

In college he worked as a tutor in the Undergraduate and Graduate Writing Centers. He and his wife are Christians living in Greensboro, NC, and are eager to begin giving back to the local home school community.
Jonathan is offering weekly Piano and Accordion lessons, and English Writing tutoring, especially in preparation

U.S. Figure Skating Championships been held annually since 1914 and this is the first time the U.S. Championships have been hosted in the Carolinas.

Competition will include approximately 250 skaters in the novice, junior and senior levels. These skaters will compete over the course of eight days to become U.S. champions. Sunday there will be 3 different sessions and Jan. 25-30 will be a Fanfest.

Piedmont Parent’s Young Authors Contest

Let this be the year your kids take part in one of Piedmont Parent’s largest events. Enter the contest by writing an original children’s book, and every kid who enters will be invited to our reception to be held in the spring of 2011. Who Can Enter: The contest is open to all children who will enter grades K-8 in the fall of 2010. Submissions will be entered and judged in age categories as follows: K-1,2-3,4-5,6-8,How to Enter:Write and illustrate an original storybook for a child between the ages of 4 and 8. The book must be made by hand and not exceed 20 pages in length; no computer or media-enhanced submissions will be accepted. Only one book per entrant. Finished books should be bound (stapled, stitched, clipped or inserted into a folder).
