Who says there's no such thing as magic?

Whoever said that there's no such thing as magic has never seen the look on my little brother's face when he picked up his first tadpole.
Whoever said there's no such thing as magic has never spent a day in the mud with his neighbors, getting wet to the point of being soaked.
Whoever said there's no such thing as magic has never spent the evening in his neighbors yard, playing badminton and singing along to Third Days Grace and Kelly Clarkson.
Whoever said there's no such thing as magic has never spent a beautiful day outside.

Yesterday was gorgeous. It was warm, and sunny, with three secong rain showers. We spent literally all day outside. Yes, we picked up tadpoles and frogs, and played badminton and got muddy. Johnathan and Hannah and us Young kids had fun in the sun all day! That evening, Johnathan brought Transformers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uh, I sort of liked it a lot! It was definetely a "big kid" movie, with some "suggestive innuendo" and language and some crude humor. But it is a well made movie, and the Transformers are TOTALLY COOL! I was sitting there in front of my computer in fascination as they transformed. Sweet, dude!!

Today, we worked in our gardens pretty much, and I worked on my story. I'm so bleeding guilty of a sin called procrastination. I have purposefuly been putting off my stories, but now I'm like, for gosh sakes, I need to get one finished. So yes, I have become dedicated. Not an easy thing! I'm proud of myself however, I have finished one chapter, and I am brilliantly composing another. If you check out my other blog soon, you'll see the next installment of DOAND. (That's Dawn of a New Day for those of you who have no idea of what I am speaking of.)

Well, tttfn, I have other computer duties.

Back with lots of news.

Hey everyone, I'm back! For those of you who didn't know I was gone, I was grounded from the computer, but now I have come back to bore you all to death with my silly posts.

Oh, gosh, I have a LOT to say!! I guess I'll start with the weekend before last. For those of you who read PrimaBallerina's blog, you know that the co-op did their play. We made it! My mom and I actually got there early (believe it or not) and I got to stay late, like TEN PM late!! I haven't had so much fun since we moved! I got to see all my old friends, except the Bjorklunds, but Molly, Bethany, Hannah, Candace, Micah, Savannah, and Rachel were all there, and since I haven't seen them in a year, we had a wonderful reunion!! The play was awesome, by the way. DRAMA did a good job of pulling it off, and it was fun to watch. The class actually rewrote almost the whole thing, and it was pretty cool when Bethany told me the things they'd changed or redone. Everyone acted well, and except for when Savanah K. started giggling over the name of her hippy rock band thingamajigger, I didn't notice a glitch. Bravo Mrs. Gunnels, and the HOPE co-op Drama class of 'o7-'08!!

So we got to watch that, and then we talked. And talked. And talked. Then Mom and I drove home, got back at like midnight and I crashed. Amazingly, I was awake enough the next day to spend it all playing with Kes and my sibs, and fend off K's flirting!! Nothing really eventful happened the next week, I spent most of it reading. I read "The Atonement Child" by Francine Rivers, and I must say it is one of the best books I've ever read. It was very sweet/sad, but if you're looking for a really good abortion story, read The Last Storyteller by Diane Noble. I cleared out my bookshelf that week, so now I only have COMC, but it's pretty good. Don't know what I'm gonna read when that's done. Guess I'll go back to Anne of Green Gables, again. Or maybe Robinson Crusoe. Who knows??

Ah, so this week was pretty good too. I've been working diligently on my story, and I'm proud to say I MIGHT finish it this year. One can hope. Last night we went to the Lindsey's, my friend Gabriella's. We talked about everything on God's green earth, and ate ourselves full. For about an hour or so, we danced to my iPod in her iDog, and sang into our hairbrushes. It was the most fun I've had since the play. We decided we'll do the same thing when she comes to stay this summer, and we'll be sure to drive the neighbors crazy as we belt out Since U Been Gone, Girlfriend, and Breathe (2 am). Ha ha!!

Well, the summer is coming up hair-raisingly fast, and along with it the school year. I'm so freaked out, even though it's a whole four months away, that time is going to fly by. I'll have to get a physical, and be tested, and all kinds of scary stuff. But still I can't wait. I'm hoping to be able to keep my blog even after I start PS. If other kids find time for MySpace, I'm sure I can do my blog. My mom is still worried about my intelligence in the school system, but I have vowed to myself that I'll keep up my brain juice during the Summer, and maybe on the weekends. Hopefully I'll go up a grade, so I'll be with kids my age, but who knows. Oh well. I'll survive, I'm sure...I think.

For those of you who read past posts, you might know that one of my aunts is pregnant, and is due this September. You may also know that she had a possibility of losing the baby. Well, she had an operation that pretty much ensures that the baby will stay! Thank you all of you who prayed for my aunt, and please keep doing so. We are all really hoping that the baby will live, and we're all really excited to have a new cousin. Ironically, my aunt who is haveing the baby was fourteen when I was born, and I'll be nearly fourteen or fourteen when the baby comes. Funny, huh?

My other aunt and uncle are doing fine too as well as I know. My aunt is doing better after her surgery and my uncle's knee is healing, I'm pretty sure. Thanks for praying for them too.

I'd also like to ask prayer for myself, which seems kind of weird, but anyways. My mom is talking about getting me to a doctor because I've been having weird shock things through my body, mostly along my ribs and spine and legs. It really, really hurts, and they usually take my breath away for a little while. So I'd appreciate it if you'd pray for these pains to go away, and for nothing to be seriously wrong. Oh yeah, and for Bethany (PrimaBallerina) and her knees. I guess they're still pretty bad, so please pray for heling in those limbs.

OK, I've got to go now, I have a Webkinz in serious need of attention. Bye, y'all.
Brigette.

P.S. Please read the following. It's from some missionaries in Africa that I pray daily for. They'd appreciate it if you would too. Anyways, I'll be posting them as I get them. Here's the first newsletter:

Thank you for praying for the team from Northridge Fellowship, Jerome, ID that went to Diouloulou.  Here is a brief testimony how God answered your prayers.  As Gayle and Candy were packing to leave on the mission trip to Diouloulou, Janie gave Gayle a Bible and told her to give it to someone in Diouloulou.  After arriving in Diouloulou Gayle and Candy continued to pray and ask God’s guidance in whom to give the Bible.  On Friday while speaking in an English class they told the girls they wanted their hair braded, so if anyone wanted to come where they were staying they would love that. A girl named Georgette said she would come on Sunday afternoon, but they were wondering if she would show up.  Georgette did come, and both Candy and Gayle had an instant bond with her, so they knew this was the person they were to give the Bible.  The next day Georgette came back and told them she did not know how to use the Bible because she never had one before.  They were able to share the Gospel with Georgette and show her how to use the Bible.  They ask that you pray for Georgette.  Pray the Holy Spirit would guide her as she reads the Bible and that she would see her need for Jesus and trust Him as her Lord and Savior.

Pray for God and Jesus as Savior and Lord to speak clearly to the Tamba family as the Schmitz have a celebration of life together.  Pray that their eyes will be opened and that they will believe in Jesus and openly proclaim Him as their Savior.  Pray that nothing will hinder this celebration from happening.

Pray that God will open the hearts of Philip and his family in Djilacoune as the Schmitz begin to tell them the story of God’s love for them.  Pray that others from the village will also come to hear the stories.  Pray that God will give them ears to hear, a mind to understand, heart to believe and a spirit to follow the message of truth.

More to come, but for now...

OK, for anyone who read my last post, you will see that I left half of my joke hanging. Oops. I must have put publish instead of save. So, here is the rest of the joke, and post!

Three men, a Brit, a Frenchie, and and American are traveling through an island when they are captured by cannibals. They are tied up and taken to the cannibal camp where they are hung in cages and left there over night. In the morning, the king of the cannibals comes over and says, "I got good news, and I got bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" Well, they all figure they know what the bad news is, so they answer the bad news first. The cannibal smiles a huge smile, and says "Well, you're all going to die, and then we're going to use your skin to make our boats! Now the good news, you get to choose how you die!"
The Brit is first, he asks for a gun. He puts it to his head, and BAM he's dead. Then the Frenchie. He asks for a sword, SLIT he's dead. Now the American is the only dude left. He asks for a fork. The Cannibal King stares at him. "A fork?" he asks, scratching his head. The American yells at the king, "Look dude, you said I could choose how I die, now bring me the goshdarn fork!" So the king has his cannibal-brave-peoples-whatever bring the American fella a fork. The American takes it and begins to stab himself repeatedly, over and over, and over. The king rushes to the cage and yell, "What in the name of heaven and earth are you doing?!" The American yells right back, "I'm gonna die, but you ain't using my skin to cover no dang boats!"
This joke is courtesy of my Uncle Will, as is this next one:

So an three reporters (again, an American, Brit, and Frenchie) have come to Iraq to report on the war. Unfortunately, they are captured by a firing squad, and lined up to die. The first dude, the American, looks over the angry soldiers, and decided, "I gotta get out of here, this is going to be an awesome story!" So he points behind the soldiers and yells, "HURRICANE!" The soldiers turn, and the American takes his chance to run. The Brit is next, and he caught the idea. So he pionts over the heads, and yells, "TORNADO!" Obviously, these soldiers are very stupid, so they turn and the Brit takes his chance to run. Now the Frenchie comes up, and with a big smile on his face, he points over the soldiers head, and yells, "FIRE!"
If you didn't get this, you are an extremely strange person, and should go get your head checked. Oh yeah, and when Adam told this joke to my dad, he kind of twisted it with, "firing quads", instead of "firing squads". We had a good laugh over that.

Witticisms

Today I don't have much time, since I've been spending it working on my stories, so I just decided to post some of the funny things that I have heard people say lately...

This morning my brother and sister were reading a book, when I heard a "Achoo!". Immediately, Elise grabbed the (library) book from Isaac and I heard, "No Isaac! This is not to kashoo on!" She obviously meant sneeze...

Yeterday we went to the Children's Museum in Seattle with some new friends. Aftter all our fun and excitment, we were walking back to the car when Emily looks up at the sky and says, "Look mom, half moon!"
John (Mr. Wright) laughed, and looked at Amy (Mrs. Wright) and said, "Remember Adam?" and then they both laughed. So Mom asked what they were laughing about, and John said "When Adam was really little he came into our room, and he was just giggling like crazy. So we were like, "What Adam? What?" and Adam giggles and says, "God is so silly!" and we're like, "Why, why is God silly, Adam?" and Adam chuckles and says, "He forgot to put the moon away!"

This just goes to show what the world is coming to, a telemarketer called my mom the other day, and he announced himself in this way, "Hey, this is like (Tim) and I'm like calling from such and such, would you like to order a-" Understandably, my mom hung up.

Two of my favorite jokes...you can see my humor is a little dark...

Which do you want to hear first?" When It's Spring Time

Ah! At last, it feels like Spring! The sun has shone three days in a row, and it has not snowed...yet. All around me I can see the small signs of life, a bud opening, a tree sprouting. And it makes me glad.

"For this is the day, that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice, for He hath made me glad. He hath made me glad, He hath made me glad, I will rejoice for He hath made me glad!"

This morning I actually got up at 6:00! I was sooo proud of myself, I would have started singing...but I didn't want to wake my family. I sat be the heater in Adam's room until it went off, and then I went and got in the shower. I was still pretty tired, so I am also proud of myself that I didn't drown! lol Then I went downstairs for my nice breakfast of Cream of Wheat. Yum! (Specially when you **cheat** and, um, add a little...butter...) But by then I had awoken Isaac, and he came to me asking for CoW. (No, not a cow, that is the abbr. for my breakfast) So I gave him the rest of mine to keep him quiet, and then crept back in to Adam's room to read by the heater. I actually got so engrossed in my book, I was reading through two heater sessions! I finally got to the "good" part (aka the part I recognize from the movie!) of The Count of Monte Cristo. (Hitherto known as COMC) I am amazed at gow different the book and move are in storyline! I can't decide if I like that or not...usually I can't stand it when a movie strays so far from the book that you really can't see much resemblance. (i.e.: Eragon...) And I don't see why they had to make Mercedes and Edmond...intimate...before they were married in the movie! UGH!
Anyways, in the book, I'm at the part where Edmond and the Abbe, are ready to escape and then the Abbe has his seizure. (Totally different from the movie...) And it gets more exciting by the page!
Eventually though, all good things must come to an end, right? So I sadly relinquished my book to go on a long bike ride. Yesterday I rode all the way down to the famous "Country Inn For Cats" and (ha ha, Gabriella!) got to pet a beautiful horsey! I am probably not quite as much a horse fanatic as I was, but I still love their nobility and beauty, and enjoyed being in contact with such a magnificent animal again. It's been two years since I've ridden, and at least a year since I've been in contact with an ungulate. (I think that's how you spell it.) So, today, to push my muscles, I rode all the way down to Sugar Bear Acres, about half way down our ten mile road. And I really enjoyed it. Later I get to "babysit" Zac (Isaac) and we'll finish "the girwy movie"...ahem, that would be the old Pride and Prjudice. (My personal preference. I am competely prejudiced against Keira Knightely...) I'm so looking forward to that, P&P being one of my favorite movies. I'm sorry to say, I prefer P&P, Sense and Sensibilty, and Emma, to any "modern" movie. You might say, I 'm a bit of a Jane Austen freak. I have read S&S at least...10? times... But I never mind picking it up a 11th time!

I recently discovered a new group I really like! I have access to Rhapsody ( a music site) and I decided to search Celtic Music, since I absolutely love it. I've listened to the Chieftains a few times, and I like them a lot, but I was looking for more of the "dreamy" penny whistle style music. And I found it! The group is called Celtic Woman...and oh my word, the music is BEAUTIFUL! I already have two favorite songs of theirs, One World, and then Last Rose of Summer: Walking on Air/Medley. Oh man, I really love it! Gabby's gonna kill me for having another fave artist! I have like, too many!

What else...oh, my VBS meeting was fun. I'd appreciate prayers for resources and supplies. Hopefully, there will be many kids, so we need as much support as we can! So if you could pray that we would have plenty of money for extra things (crafts, snacks, prizes) I would be so very thankful. It's gonna be fun to be working with kids, and I'll be doing registration, so I'll get to know the kids names as soon as they walk in the door! Oh yeah, and I'll be working with the (amazing number of four) other teens there, and maybe it will be a good way to break the ice. I can hope!

Well, folks, that's all for today, except for one last thing: Please, please, pray for my aunt, who just had her appendix taken out, and wasn't doing too well. You may have read in earlier posts about my uncle's knee, well this is his wife, and she is working two jobs to support them both, since my uncles knee is still bum. So, both I and them, would really appreciate your prayer.

TTFN,

**Brigette**

Some updates

Hey everybody! First of all, thanks for all the people who just commented on my blog. It was really sweet to open my inbox and find five messages that all said, "A comment has been posted..." Thanks!!!

Well, some of you may have noticed all the "updating" and "personalizing" I've been doing lately. I have my random quote of the day up there, as well as all the quizzes I did (if you want to learn about me, that's the place...)  which are maybe too many. Ha ha.

I also added an unruly list of my favorite books and  movies, and the books I'm reading right now. Which I guess I already had, didn't I. And I just added my guestbook, so PLEASE sign it...it's slightly forlorn right now, with only me as it's sole occupant.

Well...what's been happening here. Hm, the bizarrest thing happened the other day. I guess that my "old flame" (lol) Googled his name. Just so happens he was one of the dedacees of my book, "Dawn of A New Day". Well, apparently it was a bit of a shock, 'specially since we haven't "spoken" in over two years, and now he's pretty annoyed. I think it's cheesy. If you Google the name, "Jordan O'baya" the link to my book will be right there at the top. Weird, huh?

Tonight I'm cooking dinner. We're having Tuna Pasta Primavera from the Five Ingredient- Fifteen Minute cookbook. It sure looks good! And of course, the recipe, combined with my cooking will create a masterpiece your mouth will water over. (Sorry, I guess that's a little boastful...) I have to start in exactly 54 minutes, so that it can be done with in time for Adam's boy scouts. What else...

Oh, I'd like to ask if you would please pray for my left knee. I have no idea what's going on with my whole skeletal system right now, but it's being a pain. Literally. My mothers brilliant opinion is that it's because I haven't been stretching before and after I dance...ha ha, guilty. Sorry, but I hate to stretch. So her idea is that I've been damaging my knee, and it's now catching up with me. But I'd appreciate it if you'd pray for it anyways.

I read a really good thinking book a few books ago. I'd recommend it, but I do have to warn you, there is quite a bit of language, and some guy/girl stuff that is totally not good. The part that I appreciated was the theme of prejudice. This guy, Sam, is an Arab. And he is the "victim" of hate crime going on at the mall where he works. He suspects a fella nicknamed Hog, of the crimes, but it turns out that his suspicion was wrong. And after Hog commits a graphic suicide, he realizes that while he was assuming Hog was the crime person-dude-thingy, he was being prejudiced against Hog the Redneck. It was quite sad. But Sam also had a talk with Roberta (the main character) about how the White man is always prevailant. It's sad, but true. It's something that's been bugging me for a while now. I mean, when was the colored man ever the powerful one? Sure, many colored civilizations have had power, but none of them have had the power of say, Rome, the British Empire, and America. Just one of my many thoughts, I guess.

Well, I guess I'd better go. PLEASE keep commenting!!!

I'm back...and I've been dubbed a good citizen!

Hey everybody, I'm back, even if I'm not s'posed to be...my wrist seems to be fine. I probably just overstrained it...hmm. Where to start? Things just don't happen to me! I had all my excitement back when I was like ten! Ugh...well, I've been working diligently on my book. I have the feeling that I NEED to finish another book, I have way to many started. It's a little scary. DOAND is going fine, for all the blockup I had a little while back, I finally got to the part where Katie and Ken can become Christians. Geez, I couldn't get past Katie's depression. Seriously. It's weird the way I get so wrapped up in the lives of the charchters of the books I write and the ones I read. It's no good! So the book I'm actually working on finishing, shouldn't be too hard. It's about Mary of Nazareth, from her betrothal to Joseph to their return from Egypt...it's interesting.

On another note, I have a bizzarre story to tell:
The other day, when we went to the Library, I got a book on the Marbola flu, an STD. It looked like an interesting book, so I was rather eager to read it. That night, during my reading time, I decided I'd go ahead and read it. So I opened the cover (I mean, like DUH!) and there inside was a blue envelope from the Centralia bank, a county or so away. Well, I was slightly surprised, and I opened it (it wasn't sealed) and was even more surprised to see a twenty dollar bill staring up at me! Wow! But I was positively shocked when I realized that there wasn't one twenty, there were seven. Yup, 140$. I was a little shcoked for a moment. I mean, hello? I've never held that much money in my hand...ever. (Unless you count my mom's cash card...) So I went to Mom, and I was like, "Umm, mom? I just kind of like found this money in my Library book." Mom was like, "Wow! How awful to go to the Bank, and then leave all that money in a book!" So she went and put it in her pocketbook, so that we could return it to the Library on Wednesday. (Our "go-to-town" day lol) On Wednesday, we made it to the Library and turned in the money. A few days later, we got a call from the Library letting us know that they had found the owners of the money, and that they were very grateful. I automatically put the incident out of my mind. But my surprise was great, when the Library called again, and told my mom that there was an envelope left for me with them, left by the Money People. So a few days later, when we went to town, and to the Library, I picked up my book, and then walked to the front counter. I told the Librarian that I was here to pick up an envelope, and she got this big smile on her face, and said "Oh you're the good citizen!". Then she reached into her desk and pulled out a manila envelope, titled, "TO A GOOD CITIZEN, FROM A GRATEFUL ONE. OPEN CAREFULLY". I'm sure I was blushing (I've been told several times that it is one of my best talents...GABRIELLA DAWN!) as I opened the envelope, because all three Librarians gathered to watch me, saying how much fun it was for them to be detectives, etc. Inside the manila envelope was a smaller white envelope. Inside of that was a pretty card (that's going in my scrapbook!) that said "The World Need More People Like You..." and inside, "thank you". It was so very, very nice of them to even think of leaving me a note, but I was even more surprised to find a twenty. I think if I'd been alone, I would've had tears in my eyes...it was so nice. But I was even more touched my the message in the card, that said that they were so thankful that I had been honest, and that not many people would have done it. This story made me think of the Bible verses, "You reap what you sow", and "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Sorry I suck at remembering the refrences) I think it's great that I was able to help someone...but I swear that this Library is jinxed. Things that have been happening to me here, NEVER happened at Fern Hill. Ha ha. But the funny thing was, when I got back in the car as we were leaving the Library, Adam (my nine yr. old bro) looked at me, perfectly honest, and said, "Next time can I return the money, Sissypantser?" I had to laugh.

FOR GABRIELLA:
Ok, "Every Young Woman's Battle: Guarding your mind, heart, and body in a sex-saturated world.", by Shannon Ethridge is a super book. When I was finished I sure felt very convicted about some of the things I let into my mind with the music I listen to, and some of the clothes I wear. I mean, it's not like I wear seductive super low/short clothing, and I don't purposefully listen to bad music, or read books/watch movies with suggestive things, but some of my shirts could probably be a little higher/longer. I did end up getting rid of two, becuase if the very reason. And when you get three stations on the radio, I mean I can't be picky of the songs they play. But I did realize, when I start singing these songs just skipping the cuss words...it shows I'm probably letting myself get to wrapped up in that kind of music. I'm proud of myself, I wanted to listen to Kiss 106.1 while I was cleaning the bathroom, but instead I went and got my Superchick CD, and bugged my brother by singing at the top of my lungs, "I WANNA BE REAL...", and "(this time, I know it's true love) HE'S THE ONE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR..." lol. I enjoyed a lot of the practical advice in "...Woman's Battle", and even though I won't be dating, (I'm gonna court :D ) when I go to the Prom, and stuff, I'll be going with a guy, right?! There were some things that I hadn't originally known fully about, that startled me, but I still found it informative and good advice. I just wouldn't give this to my 11 yr. old sis... (So, yes Gab, you should read it. I liked it better than So Much More, and Before You Meet Prince Charming...which is saying a lot!)

OK, I'd better go. Thanks everybody who commmeted recently, and who has commented often. I truly appreciate your opinions. Oh, and I'll be updating From The Desk Of The Stroyteller ASAP. I've been "commanded" (rather, seriously hinted at) by Sierra. So please visit me there, you can find it either by clicking my "Story Blog" link, or kansasflower2 on my "Pals" list. Oh yeah, and check out all my new links! Au revoir, Brigette

Some sad news...

I'm sorry to have to tell you all, I am not allowed on the computer for a while now. Something is wrong in my wrist, a nerve or tendon is hurting really bad, and since my aunt had to have surgery because of a similar problem, my mom doesn't want me using my wrist all that much. :( So I won't be on for a while. However, don't let that keep you from commenting on earlier posts...*hint hint*, and I'll still be checking e-mail. So, farewell for now. Oh, and I got some new music...two Celtic songs, and then some LOTR music! Till mom allows me to come back...au revoir! Brigette
