February Learning Goals

Posted in Preschool

Bible - Awana for memory.  Back to the Beginner's Bible to finish chronological reading.  We had just started Jesus's ministry when we got sidetracked (not complaining, but he's not sidetracked anymore).

Phonics - Keep plugging away with the Progressive Phonics reader and Sonlight's Fun Tales readers.

Writing - I need to start working on how S4.5 holds a pencil since it seems he is starting to pick up a bad habit without me.  I will probably just have him practice writing his first and last name.

Literature and Poetry - Fairy Tales; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, books by Margaret Hodges (legends and folk tales); Pocket Poems

Math - Stuart J. Murphy books; 2 - 3 lessons from Making Math Meaningful from Chapter 3: Serial Ordering

Science - Weather lapbook and Winter Scavenger Hunt Nature Walk; 2 -3 pages in Animal Notebook/Scrapbook

History - Biographies of Lincoln and Washington

Art - Come Look With Me: Exploring Landscape Art With Children

Music - American Folk Songs

Handwork - Plastic canvas stitched bookmark project from Michaels.com

Great goals. Is your DS in Kindergarten or pre-school? Did he like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? We listened to that one in the car and DS, at the time 6yo, loved it.
