Mar. 21, 2007 - The Battle Between Good And Evil In Our Country- GET Involved!

"Today, we are in a battle for the bodies and souls of man. It is a battle between two opposing systems: freedom and slavery, Christ and anti-Christ. The struggle is more momentous than a decade ago, yet today the conventional wisdom says, “You must learn to live with Communism and to give up your ideas about national sovereignty.” Tell that to the millions—yes, the scores of millions—who have met death or imprisonment under the tyranny of Communism! Such would be the death knell of freedom and all we hold dear. God must ever have a free people to prosper His work and bring about Zion. "

Last: We must study the inspired Constitution and become involved in the political process ourselves. I quote the First Presidency statement that was read in sacrament meetings on Sunday, 1 July 1979: “We encourage all members, as citizens of the nation, to be actively involved in the political process, and to support those measures which will strengthen the community, state, and nation—morally, economically, and culturally” (Letter from the First Presidency, 29 June 1979).
(Excerpts from: Ezra Taft Benson, “A Witness and a Warning,” Ensign, Nov 1979)

We have been given the commandment to get involved politically.  We all know how this world has become increasingly wicked.  Everyday we read of more sin and wickedness that is growing and the complete acceptance of it through so many in our country.   We the members of Christ's church have an important mission to help share the gospel and change the world in some way.  I've sent some other sites over the last few months.  If you didn't get them and want them, let me know! :)  Here is HOW to get involved now (in addition to simply voting), and here are more links to help you get more involved.

http://www.afa.net/ -American Family Association (If you don't get involved with the others, DO get involved through this site!)

http://www.americandecency.org/- this is an organization that is committed to getting rid of culturally eroding sin and filth on television, at the malls and more.  Join their email updates so that you can be informed when new things come up!

http://www.onenewsnow.com/ -A Christian based news site.  Subscribe to their daily news brief to keep informed!

http://www.onemillionmoms.com/- A project aimed at stopping the exploitation of our children by entertainment media (via: television, music, movies, etc.)

I pray that we all can make a contribution towards ridding our country of filth and that we let our country's leaders know how we want them to represent US.  Even if we don't succeed, the Lord will acknowledge the fact that we tried- that we did all that we could!  Twenty years ago it wasn't this easy to get involved!  With a click of a mouse and a few things that you fill in, you can let your voice be heard!  You can let our congressmen, state representatives, and other officials know that we want them to represent us on the issues of great importance- issues of right and wrong.  You can boycott companies, email corporate presidents and more, letting them know that you disagree with what they are doing.  This can and DOES make a difference!

I agree with this post. I have just one difficulty, trying to keep up with all the phone calls, emails, and website signing, etc. Any suggestions or ideas for us busy homeschoolers trying to balance all that? I am overwhelmed by all of it.
