Almost every school day we will get out our little globe and get a pencil. Then we close our eyes and our mom will turn it upside down and spin it. Wherever the pencil hits on the globe, we go to Google and study it. We learn lots of interesting things. Like sometimes, we land on a place that it takes an hour and a half to finish. Next day, we'll do the same thing and then... you know the rest. We have studied Australia and the Marshall Islands (near Hawaii) this year. It is my absolute favorite lesson, because all I have to do is listen and learn. Here's a link to Google and to the Marshall Islands. |

One night [this is a true story], two men were asleep near the Mississippi River. They were awakened by a huge rumble. They went out the tent and looked. They saw the Mississippi River "boiling up like a cauldron of boiling water." Trees crackled and fell into the river. The river started to flow backwards. It was an earthquake that caused all that mayhem. People felt the effects 1,100 miles away. The church bells even rang in Boston! It was on February 7th, 1812. It formed Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee. It is a good fishing place. The fish are like birds fluttering in the trees under Reelfoot Lake. The trees [buried under the water] are like nurseries for their eggs. Every time we go boating and enter the marina, my little brother starts to cry. But, forget that, we still have fun. There are catfish, carp and bluegill at the marina that we can see in the water. When we go out on the lake, we jump off the back and the front of the boat to go swimming. There's a nice restaurant at the marina. We have so much fun. |
