Boy have I been neglecting my blogging. It has been faster to post on Facebook. Oh well. We are all still here. It has been crazy, I’m sure everyone has been having some crazy times. While on vacation in November my grandmother fell and was admitted into the hospital. Doctors told her she could no longer live by herself. At almost 90 she didn’t like this at all. Our home was too busy for her, which is understandable living by herself for over 40 years and then moving into a house with 8 (soon to be 9) people is a bit much. I have been looking for skilled nursing facilities in my area for her and also assisted living for when she will be able to sit up in a wheel chair. This required lots of phone calls and visiting many places. This pregnant body didn’t care for all that running around. I have been trying to catch up on all her paperwork she hasn’t been able to do this year. I have already been paying her bills for the last almost 2 years but there were many things that I hadn’t been doing that she was doing herself.
We were also given a wonderful Christmas present, a trip to a Christmas party at Knotts Berry Farm for one Saturday in December. It was raining so not many people showed up, we had the park just about to ourselves so the kids got to ride the rides over and over again in the few hours it had stopped raining. Very fun time and it was free!
Step-Fathers cancer came back after 7 years, they said he wouldn’t servive surgery so he had to go with 6 weeks of Chemo and Radation which he just finished last week. We were blessed that on Christmas Eve he and my mom came up for a hour, which they had a 6 hour round trip driving to do. He had to wear a mask because he had no immune system left. Good thing he did because we all wound up getting the flu that week.
It started around 12:30am Tuesday morning with one child throwing up and it went down the stairs. Hubby had to clean it(I have a terrible reflex action to throw up that I become part of the problem instead of being part of the solution) By the time Hubby had finished shampooing the carpet and climbed back into be an other child came to let us know that he had thrown up but missed the towlet. While Hubby was taking care of that mess, his alarm went off. By 8:30am 4 out of the 6 kids were sick. My oldest and youngest were fine. DD1 took care of everyone for me, empting buckets when needed. I was starting to have contractions so had to stay on the couch. By 5pm the sickies where feeling much better, but hubby and DD1 were coming down with it. By Wednesday night they were doing better, drainned but better. I woke up Christmas Eve morning hurting but just thought I was over doing it, my noon I was throwing up so I went to bed. Christmas day I was feeling better, drained and we all decided it wouldn’t be a good idea for me to help in cooking so my two oldest made Christmas dinner. They did an awesome job! We had a fun and relaxing day, by Saturday I was myself again.
I am learning how to use the photo album on Homeschool Blogger so maybe I can post some pictures. I just haven’t had time to up load to another site and then try to post them here. I would never get anyhing done. ha ha My youngest son was finally diagnosed yesterday with Asthma. I had taken him in in the afternoon and they sent him home. By the time hubby got home he was worse so he took him back to urgent care and it had turned in to pneumosia. This morning he was doing much better and did well at his followup appointment.
Just before leaving the house yesterday to take DS2 to the doctors, my mom called to tell me that my Step-Father had fallen and broken his hip. They were not sure if he was up for surgery, but they were able to around 8:30 last night and he was doing well.
I have been having fun with knitting and sewing. I also have been enjoying homeschooling this year. I feel more organized and that we are accomplishing much. I will try to do better in posting in the future.
