I'm Back!
Hello everyone!
Well I'm back from my Aunt and Uncle's! I had a wonderful time! This will be a rather long post, seeing that I just have to update you on all the fun and exiting things I did while I was gone.
Now where do I start? Ah...yes it was last Friday.
My brother, Katie's dad drove us both about half way a little past St. Louis where we met with Aunt Mary and Uncle Duane at a pizza place. After a nice lunch, we said goodbye to Katie's dad and my dad who also came with, then it was off to the get the mowers. You see, Aunt Mary and Uncle Duane had two broken riding mowers that needed to be fixed...and the man had said it would only take twenty minutes to fix them. The short job ended up taking two hours, so the man told us to come back later. For about two hours we went driving to various place's waiting before we could go back to their ranch. When it was done, we were finally on our way!
We got out of the truck, and were happily greeted by two Great Danes and a black puppy. I stood there, and took a deep breath of the fresh country air. I was finally there...it was as if I had come back home. I was surrounded by hills and trees and grassy fields. It was breathtaking. We slept in the annex.
The next day we woke up sometime after seven a.m. maybe it was eight a.m. I'm not too sure now. Never the less that day we didn't do much of anything but go outside and sit in the hammock and walk down the beautiful gravel road.
The next day was Sunday...I'm not too sure what we did that day...but I do know we got dressed up in dress up clothes a lot. Katie had a renaissance gown that I wore a lot. That night we watched the first movie in the Love Comes Softly series. It was really good, I highly recommend it.
That night we slept in the cabin, it was the nicest little spot. It reminded me of Patties Place in Anne of the Island. Patties Place was a nice cute little house where Anne and a few of her friends stayed during college. Anyway that night after the movie was finished I was inspired to write some of FAD. So I sat upon the deck writing by the light of the full moon, and listening to the sound of the crickets and frogs by the lake.
Then next few days were spent helping Aunt Mary out, and we helped clean her basement. There were so many old things down there...it was really very exiting. And we also came upon my cousin's old dress up dress's. Aunt Mary called her and asked if we could where them while we were there, and she said yes. There was a beautiful blue Edwardian gown which Katie fell in love with. I myself found a brown gown with a vest that laced up in the front. The skirt was full and twirled when I spun around. Almost the rest of the time we were there we wore these two dresses. It was quiet comical actually. Two teenage girls helping out with various things sometimes listening to our ipods the whole time in old fashioned gowns! In fact for a few of those days a family rented the annex and whenever they looked out the window they would probally see two teenagers skipping about in old fashioned clothes. Indeed before they came my Aunt Mary told them not to be surprised, for they were not actually going back in time...it was just two geeky girls playing dress up like little kids. *grins* one little girl, she was about six, asked me if I had any other clothes. I smiled and told her yes I did, I was just wereing that dress because I rarely had the chance to go three or four days in a row without ever putting on modern clothes.
My Aunt Mary's cat had kittens when we were there too! They were adorable! And we found three turtles, two toads, and one bat, all of which we named. All three turtles were snappers, so we let them go pretty fast. But here are there names in the order that we found them. The first turtle we named Gilbert (from Anne of Green Gables), the second turtle we named George (for George Knightly from Emma...a Jane Austen novel), the third turtle we didn't even pick up, we saw it walking across the road while driving somewhere but we still named it. It was named Henry (for Prince Henry, a character in Ever After a movie I like). Then there were the toads...there names were Wickem and oh I forgot the other...you'll have to ask Katie. And now for the bat. One morning I was laying upon the hammock, when I noticed something brownish hanging from a very low branch. I got up and it was a bat! It was hanging about eye level to me. It was the cutest little thing ever! It was small enough to fit inside my palm, and it was soft and furry. It looked so adorable! It had the cutest little face and mouth! We even saw it blink a few times! But it hung there until dusk when it flew off. We named that little guy Theobald (from MaidenCapitolaBallot's story. I know you wouldn't think of a cute little bat as a Theobald, but it somehow fit!)
After a few days we had to move our beds to a camper because some other family was going to rent out the cabin. And after a night or two in there we moved back to the cabin after the people had left. It felt good be back in Pattie's Place...*smiles*
During this whole time, we also had fun swimming in the creak. Then a few days later Katie's parents and sisters along with my younger sister Mrs. Gamgee came.
It wasn't as fun from then on. I believe it was because now that so many people were there we didn't have all the time we wanted with Aunt Mary and Uncle Duane as we wanted. But it was still fun. Then we left and came home! Yesterday Katie and her family left to go to their house, and here I am!
Farewell!

You're back!!! *happy dance*
Wow! It sounds like you had an absolutely amazing and fabulous time! I love your description of the landscape, and dressing up sounds like so much fun! (I admit, I would have done the exact same thing if I found myself in your situation.) Cool! I'm so glad you got to 'get away' and have such a fun time! There is nothing like going to a place you love to stimulate your writing brain. I love the mountains, and we finally got to go there last weekend for the first time this summer, so I am also ready to jump back into writing.
I can't tell you how much I have missed you for the time you have been gone! I am so glad you are back!
Love you!

Oh, how I miss sweet Molly and Katie. What a joy to have two nieces come visit for a week. I so enjoyed watching them romp around in their dress up clothes without nary a care in the world. What a blessing for teenage girls in these days. Wow, can these girls work hard when given the opportunity and I certainly gave many opportunities.
This place, Koinania, truly is wonderful and God has blessed us. We so enjoy sharing it with others which is why we named our land Koinania which means fellowship.
If any of you Homeschool families would like take a Missouri vacation to the country check us out at http://www.koinaniacottage.com
Thanks Molly for the wonderful post to your blog. It was a fun week and we will see ya next year!! Maybe we could plan a homeschool girls getaway!
Love,
Aunt Mary

Well, hullo, I've finally found out how you do avatars if that's how you spell it, and experimented with part of a sunset picture! And it works! Hope you had a great time in Missouri ( I wasn't able to read all of you entry because it was so long, wish I was able to write entries that long, but sadly I can't seem to think of what to write, and I don't stick much of my stories on because they might get plaguerised or something )
bye for now
