I found the following post to be very helpful. Check it out!
Kitchen Tasks for Daughters Ages 3 to 10 Years Old
It occurs to me that it might even be a good idea to give the dishwasher a vacation and teach the girls to wash the dishes by hand.
Below is my very proud daughter displaying the Challah bread she made all by herself. I stood next to her and gave her instructions but I restrained myself from offering a "helping" hand. She really wanted to do it all by herself. I did show her how to braid the first loaf but I believe that is the only time I touched the dough. Oh, and at her request, I took the hot pan out of the oven.

While Challah bread is very yummy, it is not a very practical everyday bread. I found a very easy bread recipe that you start in the bread machine (mix and raise) and bake in the oven. I don't like how my bread machine bakes the bread. My daughter has now deemed herself the "Official Bread Maker."

Hi! I'm new to this site and am really enjoying it! I have 3 children - 2 girls and a boy. My youngest daughter loves to cook and bake! Reading your post made me smile - I know so much of what you say!
Your C.S. Lewis quote is great. Our children need so much more education on morals and values -- the stuff that's not in the curriculum. Although I work full time as an admin assistant, I also blaph (blog/laugh) for a children's toy and book company dedicated to writing and publishing moral-based books and toys. The opportunity I've been given to share with others is quite a blessing!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and so many others on this site.
Blaphs and Blessings,
BlapherMJ

..it is that I hail from Pittsville?!? You are correct, though. Pittsville, WI, population 810 (at least when I was there).

I think I put my Pittsville comment on the wrong blog post...sorry! Well, I didn't exactly remember it that well. Actually your post that mentioned that you don't like to mention it got me curious. So, I looked on a map of central WI, and as soon as I saw it, I knew Pittsville was right. I believe you told me a long time ago, and I just forgot. You poor thing! You can't help where your parents made you live! You can't change the name.....or.....can you???
