The Kingdom Series by Chuck Black

Posted in Books

Eric got the Kingdom Series for his birthday this year, and I read them. Now, I must say, Chuck Black is now on my Top Favourite Authors list! When I finished the first book, Kingdom's Dawn, I was very eager to start the second. I will give a (brief) summery of what the first book is. Medieval times. This is what it says on the back cover, its Chuck Black's summary of it:

WARNING! WARNING! If you don't want to know part of the story, don't read any further! Kingdom's Dawn

"Sixteen-year-old Leinad thought he was a common farmer's son, nothing more. He wondered why his father had trained him for years to master the sword ---not exactly a tool of the trade for farmers --- but one tragic event initiates a worl dof revelation.

"Only then does he to begin to understand his calling ---a calling no other man in the entire kingdom of Arrethtrae can fulfil ---a calling given him by the King Himself.

"Teamed with a young slave girl, Leinad is thrust into advesary and danger ---for the Dark Knight and his Shadow Warriors will stop at nothing to thwart the King's plan to restore the kingdom. Leinad will need more than a sharp blade and a swift hand to fulfil his mission and survive the evil plots of the King's sworn enemies!

"Journey to Arrethtrae, where the King and His Son implement a bold plant to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, ans loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; where good will not bow to evil ---and the future kingdom lies in the hand of a young man."

There are discussion questions included in the back of the book. Kingdom's Hope: the second book. The summary:

"Fairos thought he had sentenced Leinad to death in the Banteen Desert. But Leinad returns ---a true Knight of the King. His skill with the sword is unmatched this side of the Great Sea and he is determined to free the people from the bondage to Lord Fairos.

"Leinad's quest takes him from the chains of slavery, near the jaws of dragons, and close to the arrms of love. And when the rest of the kingdom turns away from the King amd the Code, Leinad turns to his most faithful ally, Tess. With her help, Leinad struggles to conquer his own doubt. But he must do so soon, for the King's archenemy, the Dark Knight, is about to unleash his entire evil force, and only Leinad can stop them...

"Journey to Arrethtrae, where the King and His Son implement a bold plant to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, ans loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; where good will not bow to evil; where the future of the kingdom is at the threshold of either victory or defeat ---and one man holds the key."

There are discussion questions included in the back of the book. Kingdom's Edge: the third book. The summary:

"Then a stranger comes to the city. Drawn to the ma's mysterious ways, Cedirc discovers the stranger's humility belies great strength and wisdom. That's when an astounding thruth becomes clear ---the stranger is a Master of the Sword, and he is there to train Cedric.

"Suddenly propelled into a desperate battle against evil, Cedric must rely on the Master's training if he is going to survive. But the ultimate battle is yet to come, for the Dark Knight is at work, implementing his plan to take over the kingdom. Will Cedric be ready to stand in the face of pure evil?

"Journey to Arrethtrae, where the King and His Son implement a bold plant to save their kingdom; where courage, faith, ans loyalty stand tall in the face of opposition; and where hope and compassion are as powerful weapons as the sword.

There are discussion questions included in the back of the book.

Thanks for reading this post. When I have read the next three book in the series, I will post them too!

Please check over at my homestead blog and read my latest post: Rachel's Reasoning.

Sincerely,

     Lady Rachel

I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts of a thirteen-year-old girl from the country."You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13

I only skimmed your post, b/c I didn't want to spoil anything for myself! We are on Book Three... reading aloud to the children. I really loved the first two books and enjoyed figuring out the names and things..like Arrethrae is EARTH TERRA backwards!

We are loving the series too! It only took husband half of the 1st book to figure out that Leinad was Daniel backward. Arrethtrae--earth terra. I missed that completely and I was the one reading aloud. Fun series!

Thank you for the comment(s)!

That's all right! I know what it's like to be busy.

I'm not sure what you mean about the comments...

I enjoy reading your blog, too! I just read the post "Keeping a journal and why it's so important to do so" and I found what you said very true! I've been thinking about that lately. I'd like to carry on the legacy of my family by keeping a journal. Also, if you think about it, we have learned a lot from historical people's diaries.

I only read the first part of your post because I didn't want to spoil anything incase I decide to read them. Are they a Christian series? I've been trying to find more book ideas because I am running out of good books to read at the library. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm glad you like my header. No, I didn't make it myself, but I wish! I got it from spareoom.net . It's a neat site with a lot of Narnian graphics. That's where I got my avatar, too.

What does 'JW' mean?

Love,
Kylie

Oh, now I understand...I'm working on a post right now, actually. I'll let you know when I post it. That's ok - I don't mind.

Oh...well, you put the warning on there so I didn't know if it was a spoiler or not. ;)

I actually looked up those books...I might put them on hold at the library.

Yes, I've read CON and I've started LotR but didn't finish it, though I have read the Hobbit several times...haven't ever heard of Jane Eyre, or the Botkin sisters. I'd love it if you could send me a list! would you mind e-mailing it to me? If it's ok with your mom, I'll e-mail you first and send you my e-mail address.

Oh, ok...I still don't understand a lot of those acronyms!

I always love stopping by your blog!! the pleasure is all mine!

Love,
Kylie

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - Hello again again...lol!

Posted by Narniagirl

Well, I don't know if you mentioned it directly but it was implied. Don't worry - I never doubted it for a minute! I love coming to yours, too.

I think the problem with the trilogy is that it's too long! I got through 400 pages and then I was totally lost. Dad first introduced me to the Hobbit, though, and read it to me when I was younger (I'd tell you exactly when but I'm not sure). I've read it maybe 2 or 3 times on my own since then.

I did put them on hold! What order are they in? I didn't know, so I just put them all on hold.

Oh, sorry, I meant I haven't ever read Jane Eyre. I have heard, though, that the same girl who played Lucy in CON is going to play Jane in the movie of Jane Eyre! I'm not 100% sure, though...

I e-mailed you my e-mail address...

LOL! How about we just split the pleasure?

Love,
Kylie

Hm....I didn't know you liked orange! That's cool. My favorite color is purple (mostly lavender).

Yes, I like my avatar, too! Do you think it fits? After all, I do often times "come to the rescue" of people.

The template is supposed to be for christianmusician1. She asked for a green music template, and so that's what I gave her! Do you think it looks very musical?

Please stop by again! I love getting input and suggestions!

Talk to you later!

Sounds like they are neat books. I have never read any of his books, but maybe I'll look into that.

Thanks for the tips! I could always use those! ;D

Well, I have a couple questions for you: do the entry title & sidebar title show up as the font Monotype Corsiva or just plain times new roman? Because on my dad's computer it shows up as monotype corsiva, but on the computer I usually work on it shows up as times new roman. I made the sidebar title a little bit bigger, same for the entry title, but I can't figure out how to make the "posted in" bigger.

I liked your ideas of the images (the bird, sheet music) but the problem is that I don't know where to find anything like that or make any graphics (yet). I'm actually quite pleased I found the musical notes! I have another one which has a little tail on it (sorry, I don't know their names!) but it doesn't show up well on the template. I can't decide which one to put on the sidebar or in front of comments. I also have a cross symbol (because that's in Arya's blog title). Which one do you think?

And no, I don't think you are trying to tell me what to do. I'm actually glad you took the time to give me some suggestions, and I would love it if you could continue to do so!

I added you to my friend's list! (on here, I mean)

Thanks!

Kylie
