Hey Rachel ~
RYC 1:
Yes, I have read the CON books, several times.
I am sorry you did not like the movie... What I meant by the kiss showing Susan's character, is that, in the Last Battle, she becomes more concerned with "teenager" stuff and grows away from Narnia. She may not have done that in the books, but her character was presented in a different way in the movies. I didn't particularly the kiss; and I don't think it should have been in there either. That just may have been why the movie producers might have done that.
Yes, I liked Edmund in the movie too. He and Lucy were my favorite characters. They didn't do so well on Dr. Cornelius, but he was still good. Prince Caspian was played really well, I thought. That is some good insight into why they made Caspian older-- I never would have thought of that! Of course it would look silly to have four older children and a young Caspian. I think they needed someone a bit older to portray Caspian's deep emotions. A younger person could have done just as well, but I think they made a good choice in picking Ben Barnes (aka Caspian).
I think Peter's role was great. He is High King for many years, and then suddenly he's hurled back into England, where he's a schoolboy and everyone's telling him what to do. That is portrayed early in the movie when he is in the fight at the train station. Then, later, many of those emotions (like pridefulness, self-independence, angriness) resurface when he comes back to find Caspian, who is on his way to becoming King, and he feels that is territory has been invaded. William Moseley (the actor playing Peter) really did a splendid job!
I also loved Reepicheep. They did a good job picking a voice for him; he wasn't too "squeaky" like a real mouse would be, and he had a brave note in his voice, too. He was nicely animated. I love the part where he is zinging along in the ferns -- I thought it was funny.
All the action wasn't bad, but I enjoyed watching the characters personalities unfold more than the action.
I do think that some of the changes were necessary. Most books that are made into movies have to be changed to some extent, because they are trying to fit a whole novel into a 2-hour movie. I didn't mind the things they changed so much, like how the Pevensies & Caspian meet, the battle, etc. If they had done it *exactly* like the book, it would have been a very long and somewhat boring movie (in respects to how they presented everything, since the plot is so different.). I don't remember the battle between Peter & Miraz too well, and I'd have to see it again to give you a good opinion on that.
Yes! I LOVED Aslan!!! I wish he had been in more scenes, but I enjoyed seeing him. I also loved the river god. The special effects were amazing!!
Overall, I really enjoyed it, in spite of its quirks.
I did have fun wearing my cape to the theater. I have to sew the closing back on (thankfully it broke *after* the movie), but after I do I'm hoping to post pictures.
RYC 2:
No, I have not sent you the interview. I'll probably send it to Jocelyn when I do. I'll try to do it soon, though.
I will respond to your comments on KoF soon!
Love and Blessings!
