First, let me say that I am amongst the world's worst bloggers. My last entry was in October. I have deleted all the old stuff since there wasn't much said anyway.
Tonight I read about a Bible I too would pass on. Which leads me to ask...does anyone know of a place to find book reviews like screenit.com does for movies? My 14 yr. old daughter is having such a hard time finding books to read at the library. Seems everything in the "young adult" section is, in my opinion, not appropriate. She is a voracious reader and I simply do not have the time to sit and read every book she wants to read. I have been flipping through the books, skimming the text which isn't very effective. There is a book, Guitar Girl, that she asked me about before that I rejected after flipping for some strong language. I said maybe in high school. Since she turned 14, she asked about the book again. I flipped through it again and found that I had missed some "bedroom scene" text. Now it makes me wonder if I have missed anything in previously skimmed books that I allowed. I always tell her to let me know if there's anything she wouldn't see/hear in a PG movie that I missed so that we can talk about it, etc. She hasn't brought anything to my attention so far.
So, does anyone know of anyone websites that review books, or have any suggestions on how to screen books? Thanks!
